i wonder if the kenner kids in the photoart on the boxes got loads of free toys for being photographed?

and i wonder if they are collectors now?

The kid on the Palitoy Death Star box is Dave Barnacle's son - Dave being the Palitoy artist

And apparently he's not into action man nor Star Wars

There is an awful lot of 'wow, look how different they look now' type stuff on Facebook, it would be nice if these guys did turn up in a set of pictures at some point, be even better if they could re-create the cover-art with the older them in the pictures!

I've always wandered this, would have been a cool thing to do as a kid. I bet the reality was that it was quite boreing for the kids. I bet you weren't aloud to touch anything all day unless you were told to. I would still do it now though!

Interesting ! A weatlh of knowledge

That's why it's a great site

And the fact that you find it interesting also makes this a great site - mentioned that fact on RS a while back and all I got was tumbleweed and indifference

This brought back memories :) I did used to envy these kids and basically anyone who was in a toy advert, be it in a TV ad, catalogue or on the front of a box. In my head I always imagined that they got to keep the toys. A girl at our school was in a Heinz Beans ad playing the role of a young Cilla Black. I asked if she got a lifetime supply of beans

Funnily enough in my life I've come across two 'advert kids' and (as you'd expect) there were perks:

The first got to the last audition to be the Milky Bar kid in the 1980's but fell at the last hurdle... he had a lot of Milky Bars up to that point of course and I put in a lot of work that summer to be 'better' friends with him...

The second one was a lad I met as a 17/18 year old and he was in a few adverts as a kid from what I remember, the one I do remember was a game where you had to guess or work out a farm animal... the advert was a bunch of kids sat in a fake farm/barn on hay-bales, playing the game he was the kid that exclaimed "it is a cow, it is a cow!". He got a few quid (I expect his parents got a few more) and a box full of the game in the advert. Love to remember the game if anyone can grasp it from that sketchy description.
