WELL .....its like the blair witch project...just in new york....

over all its good but it ends quick (like blair witch) as its dont all on hand held camera....the monster is cool...it looks like something out of starshiptroopers crossed with the rancor monster crossed with something out of alien (its not a lizard as everyone thought)... special effects are good anyway its only on about 1hour 20 mins...........

worth a watch but i dont think i'd see it again :? ..

p.s its doesnt die in the end:lol:

Thats because theres going to be a sequel

Theres been a big online build up to the film which has been interesting but nobody still knows what the monsters all about and where its from. It does look good though and the sound in the film is amazing. I can't wait to get it on DVD with surround sound. Just watch the trailers in HD and turn up the sound 8) http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/

I watched it about two weeks ago, and to be honest, I had forgotten Id seen it.

If you had no idea what the film was about, it would be great when the action starts to happen, as the first section would make you think that the film was going to be a new york 'art house' film, then it takes off into a different genre.

the main characters are rather insipid, whiny Americans, one of whom, never puts down the camera, even when running for his life.

There is a scene wher the camera man meets someone else with a camera, which makes you wish they had just intercut between various characters who had been shooting the attack, it would have been far more interesting, and more believable.

The effects are outstanding, but due to the nature of the situation and footage, it really is better to watch it on a tv or monitor rather than a cinema, go and see sweeney todd instead, thats far more cinematic.

Just seen it. It was ok, a bit much for large screen though given the blair witchy jerky camera work.

But then, the monster rocked!

:)

I just saw it although not really my type of film i did enjoy it and thought the guy who played the camera man had some funny lines

I saw it sunday.

It was good. But at then end i was like 'WTF' even though I knew it would end that way.

Definitely a sequel?

where did the monster come from is what i would have liked to know

Apparently its been at the bottom of the sea for thousands of years and was disturbed by deep sea drilling, although it could have come from somewhere else originally. Its also a baby according to the director :?

This all comes from the pre-release viral stuff. There is going to be a sequel, it made enough money so it is underway.

I saw an interview with the director. Given that the film only cost $30m and it raked in more than that in its opening weekend I think its a no brainer for the studio.

Heres a bit of the backstory in this youtube clip. The monster must have just been woken and is a bit pissed off
