****ing hell guys, everyone complains that there's too much flipping going on and then when a group puts in a rule to stop it (I'm assuming only to stop people flipping on their own group, which they could easily enforce) everyone gives them ****. If you don't like their rules then don't buy from there.

I would rather we had loads of rules than some fb pages that have virtually none and are a haven for scammers, flippers that we have just booted.
Rich if have if I have a problem with yavin I would mail you not whine on here enjoy your day

Agree the groups who are havens for scammers are appalling.
And believe me I'm not going to have a good day today.

And all of this from a throw away comment about the way somebody handled a query, imagine if someone had said something really inflammatory

Echo isn't a haven mate as we ban them then they go running to others, and this is were the whining comes from " ohh I've just been banned from echo"

Well that escalated quickly!

Echo has been up and running for almost 2 years now and through that whole time rules have been added in reaction to things that have happened, whenever a new rule is proposed it gets voted on by its whole membership, the result is, I cant remember the last time anyone got scammed.

Its true, and I agree that Echo is dealer unfriendly, as everything is kept transparent, those who want to buy to immediately resell for more (which I understand as this is their livelihood) are restricted in what they can do. If this prevents 100 people a week later flooding us with messages saying I sold so and so something and now they are selling it for more so be it.

There are people passionate about SWUK, Yavin and Echo, and of course anything said negatively about their group is going to evoke a passionate reaction. Were almost like football teams!

Echo actively encourages sensible pricing, ownership of the item you are selling and stopping blatant flipping and discourages repros and bleaching etc, If this is the wrong path to take Im happy to be corrected.

As Rich H said people are entitled to choose where they are a member of and theres plenty of choice. Echo must be doing something right though as most people seem to choose there?

I've said it before but the rules put in place on Echo that are there to stop people buying items just to resell them are definitely a step in the right direction.

Question to Paul/Adam (and without checking myself) - Is it ok to sell an item on at the same price you bought it for even if you didn't ask "permission" from the previous owner? Say I buy a £100 carded figure from someone on Echo but a week later decided I wanted to buy something else with that money, I PM the guy I bought it off but get no reply or he's being a turd..could I just sling it up for sale at cost price with a small note on the reasons why? (To fund another purchase/change of heart or focus).

I don't think it's fair to outright ban reselling items if you are just trying to get your money back for an emergency or another purchase but I can see how this rule is effective in combating people buying to then resell items for profit.

I take it you guys scan the other groups/ebay and take action if people buy from echo to sell elsewhere?

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply.

Yeah its a case by case thing, weve all done it, bought something then got an upgrade or something comes up you really want. As long as you have shown the common courtesy of letting them know your selling it on, and its the price you have paid its fine. The word permission in the rules may be a bit OTT, I think we could change it to "informed".

We were the first selling focused SW group on FB so every day is a school day

Most people seem to keep an eye out for things they have sold and let us know if it pops up elsewhere.

Adam

At the end of the day once you've brought an item it's yours you can do what you won't with it you don't need permission of anyone to sell it anywhere. What's going to happen you get banned from the group and you look like a nob, so what if the person is happy to do that they don't care what people think about them and can still sell it on another group on Facebook for double the value.

Like what has been said it's a step in the right direction, perhaps over the top but it's your group to make the rules as you please.

It has been mentioned on here before that fb groups are driving the market price up, No ****ing flippers and dealers are that's why they are not welcome on ECHO UK

Once an item is yours its up to you what you do with it?

So you agree with Ugrading and bleaching too?

Or would you discourage somone from doing it?

And if you had an opportunity to make it harder for them to do it, or flip it for more would you take it?

We get nothing for running Echo, none of the admins are dealers so its not just a front end shop to move our stock through.

We try and give people a place where they can sell stuff in minutes without fees by following a few simple corteous rules.

Thanks for the reply Adam, I agree with you that "permission" is probably a wee bit OTT  I did like the use of the word "blessing" though that Carl was sent in PM :D (Maybe the seller was a priest??!)

The rule you guys have in place on reselling doesn't really bother me at all, as long as I was allowed to resell something in order to get my money back if I changed my mind on something or needed the funds. As a "collector" I only ever buy things that I want to keep anyway so the only people it should upset is dealers/flippers.

This is a very good reply to theforceuk's post. The "It's mine so I can do what I want with it" is one of the most overused excuses for cuntish behaviour that has ever been used in this hobby.

Sure, once you buy something you DO own it, but that doesn't mean the community has to agree with what you decide to do with that item while it's in your possession. U grading, bleaching figures or even just flipping to pocket a profit - these are all things that should be discouraged as they all hurt the hobby in their own different way.

I don't agree with any of the above and have never sold a Star Wars item, but yes I'm afraid once someone has brought something it's their's and they are free to do what they won't with, sorry to break it to you like this. Your group sounds very faire and un Facebook like, you should be very proud, sorry it takes your time without any financial reward. Yes you should do whatever you can to stop flipping, I find the best way is to not buy and sell, it's worked for me for the last 30 years.

No hard feelings like I said you should be proud.

Glad you like Adams reply Joe, he should get on well here.

Hi Adam. you alright?. I just wanted to air this but, as you know, it's something we have spoken about numerous times in private mate.

The problem is, it's not a few simple rules. It's multiple unmanageable rules administrated by admins with an iron fist who think it's ok to accuse people of scamming or 'hiding something' when those rules are broken.

Take the permission to resell rule. Say I brought a figure, like the original poster, and just wanted to sell it on. If I don't 'ask permission' from the seller, am I banned? Even if it's for the same price? And what if the seller says, 'no, you can't sell it on'...then what?

As you know I am banned from EB. My crime? I posted an item for sale. Was PMed and sold that item to that person at the price it was listed. Then, just as I was updating the listing, another member posted 'PM Sent' against the item (before sending a PM of course). When I said that the item was sold, I was accused of 'backdoor selling' and banned. The rule stated that the person who showed first interest on the thread is the person who I must sell to. And what if I knew that person was a known ugrader? Or bleacher? I would still be the person banned right?

And recently I understand Dave Tree was banned for advertising his Farthest From event on your page?

We are good mates Adam and I'm sure EB could be an amazing group, but it still grinds my bones when I hear of unjust banning from over zealous admins. And I hope the 'haven' Paul speaks about is not Yavin. He was careful with his words there :)

Hope your alright anyways mate. Hope to catch up soon.

Only people who dont like echo are the people who have something to hide and the people who want to rip the arse out of pricing.

Wow. Maybe re-read this thread and possibly rephrase that based on the op and the comments made as that might come across as a little offensive mate.

Just in case anyone from Echo wants to question my sales on there please see the third post on the thread below

No Jamie you were banned for threatning behaviour then made yavin why don't you just admit you are bitter as echo miles better than yavin :D

Hi Jamie, thanks for the reply.

Yeah I agree the permission bit needs tweaking to informed etc. I cant think why anyone wouldnt want somebody to resell for the same price?

And I didnt know Dave was banned? I know we ask for people to tun it by us if they want to ptomote events, just a courtesy thing again. I'll look into it.

Pleased dont think were not open to constructive criticism, more rules means more work for us, so anything we can streamline is a bonus as long as it still gets the job done!
