Hey guys.

Just a quick and simple question to see what you guys have as answers. I'm in 2 minds whether to sell on my Lego Star Wars. I absolutely love the stuff but can't display it as I haven't got the room and 2 little bins lids who would love to get their hands on it if they could.

Some of it has been bought for me as presents from family and the bins lids. Is it wrong to sell what they've bought me?? Sounds like a stupid question I know but it's getting to me. I want to invest the cash I make in vintage MOC (Iain  ) so wont be wasting the money.

What's your opinions guys on this as fellow collectors?

Chris

Personally, I've never sold gifts, just doesn't feel right to me, why not give them to your kids?
If you like the sets, they'll still be in your family and the LEGOs will see some action instead of being dustmagnets on display.

Dont sell anything your kids bought you. How would you feel if your parents sold something you bought them?

Agreed about the kids. Although I usually give them the money to give me in the first place! I'm sure one year my daughter asked for £50 to get me something for Christmas and got me a DVD and book for £20!

My parents I wouldn't be bothered. I don't/never had a close relationship with them.

i would sell them mate, its best to be honest, but what i would do is strike a deal with the kids, swap them for what you want and take them out for a meal/or buy a gift.

Unless its really going to upset them, i would make a good deal out of it and say you are going to sell and upgrade, and tell them you are going to treat them because you love them so much :)

Thanks for all your replies guys. I think I will be selling the bits I bought personally which is some of the collecters series ones. I do like your idea plantman, might be worth a thought. That is kind of my view is I will be investing the money insomething I really want so I suppose technically they would have bought me that instead. Think I'm going to do a bit more thinking before I make a decision. Thanks guys.

I cant remember exactly what I have sold in the past but dont have many ex birthday or christmas presents now that were either action figures, books or video games so I guess I must have sold plenty of gifts in the past.
Saying that though I dont think its really right especially if from the kids, but sometimes if you need money to get something you really need or want and have gifts you dont need or want, that you can sell to get these things, then its reasonable.
