Hiya all

First off, an introduction, I'm Koit from Gloucester......

I run this site.
http://www.highasakoit.co.uk/starwars/starwars.php

Anyhow, I've just moved house and now have a star wars room. Thus my collection will finally see display light of day.
I have purchased some cabinets and once work has started I shall create a guide as to what I've built/where I've bought things from, to help others.

I have some questions though.

MOC FIGURES
I have a few MOC figures and would like to display them. What are the best affordable cases to buy to put them in ? Links ? Are they UV protection ?

WINDOW FILM
I've seen it mentioned in other posts that UV film is a good idea. What is the cheapest but also reliable film and where do I get it from ? Any recommendations ?

LED LIGHTS
Once the cabinets are built I plan on lighting subtly around the edges. What's the best/affordable and reliable LED lighting strips to buy ? links/recommendations ?

Thanks all

I look forward to showing you my progress/collection. It all starts when the cabinets arrive on 2nd August ! :)

Welcome to the forum. For MOCs you have two options - star cases or acrylic cases. Acrylic is better for display, although more expensive (around £12 per case.) Star cases in my opinion are better for storage as they are much lighter so if you drop one it won't do the figure any damage. It is also easier to remove the figure from star cases without damaging it, there is a risk of scratching the card when putting MOCs in acrylic cases if you're not careful. Star cases only cost a couple of quid each and are OK for display too.

You can by both from GW Acrylic here:

As edd said star cases are better for storing and also for sending/receiving.The acrylic cases look alot better for displaying and really show the moc off to it's best.To avoid damaging mocs when getting them out of acrylic or putting them in you can use paper folded guides.

You can buy acrylics cases with uv coating protection but it will add to the cost.Star cases as far as im aware offer no uv protection.

Hello mate, welcome aboard! You can buy strips of LED lights of differing lengths and specs on eBay and elsewhere. You can also get connectors and plug kits etc to go with them depending on what you need. You can also get a pack from Ikea and no doubt elsewhere which has everything in it, very simple, you just join it all together and plug it in. I got 2 packs of these, you get four small strips in each pack. I'm going to put four strips on the back side of each door in my cabinet. Hope this helps :)

Thanks to you all.

Great information.

I look forward to sharing with you all what I've amassed and achieved sometime within the next week or so.
