Inter-site competitions...

This is an copy of a post over at IOP. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the idea:

"Dunno... We seem to have a friendly rivalry thing going here between the UK sites, it seems to me it might be fun to do something with it.

Was talking to Carl earlier on about building a game based loosely on the SW miniatures game. Perhaps we could do something along those lines on a new site - http://www.starwarsbattles.co.uk (not a real link) for example - and teams from different sites could battle it out for honour, forfeits or prizes... Maybe having to have a pink forum template for a week or something.

Then if it works and we don't all take a huff we could expand it to other sites - it would be good exposure for our sites and hopefully a good laugh as well.

What do you reckon?"

No idea what that game is (the link won't work for me on either site) but I'm sure you'll get a few volunteers from here!

Well that's why I want to do it as a new website altogether - we can give it a try between the UK sites and then maybe expand it for all the Star Wars forums - maybe have UK vs US battles, etc...

You are right about if I'm going to program it and there are other problems I foresee that need sorting out, but I reckon we can do it.
