Sorry, I have to rant.

I have my Lego Death Star 2 on ebay at the moment, I've had some muppet ask me shipping costs to the US. Not a problem, told him it would be £105 as the parcel weighs 5.1kg and thats for fully insured and signature confirmation.

His fisrt response:

'thats too much, i would pay that if you sell it to me at your starting bid, 175 gbp'

My response:

No thanks!

Then I get this message from him:

ok well good luck trying to sell it, no one will pay 150 dlls for shipping, for that matter every one would rather spend those 150 bidding, you get almost any item on ebay delivered for free, we can talk again in 5 days, all im saying is i would have bid on it by now if it wasnt for that, and so every one else

My response to his bullshit statement:

What is your problem?? You asked me shipping cost and I have told you what they are. If you are not happy, dont bid. Funnily enought the guy who has put the first bid on is from the US and I told him the exact same shipping cost as I told you, so your statement of no one will bid is rubbish. Lets look at it the other way, would you happily swallow $150 shipping charges if I wanted this item off you, prob not. If you keep harrassing me like this about my auctions and shipping charges I will happily report you to ebay. Good day sir and goodbye.

What gives him the right to make a statement like that. He asked me costs and I told him. I was trying so hard not to be rude back to him, He is now in my blocked list. ****ing hate arseholes like this.

he is just trying to grind you down, ive had this a few times before, just laugh, thats more annoying to them then getting riled up.

Although it pisses me off I'm not letting him get to me, he also asked what I would take for it. Not sure how he will respond to £400 - £500!!!

I cant be bothered to waste time on people like this, his ID is now in my block list. The auction has got 47 watchers already so I'm pretty confident I dont need his imput to get a good price.

That is the one problem with selling large items on eBay and it gets worse when they need to be sent tracked as well

I expect that the ignorance is often caused by buyers who don't sell large items on eBay

As Andy says, I wouldn't let it bother you - guy is just trying it on - send him a message at the end of the auction with the final price and suggest that he doesn a bit more research next time before he starts lecturing others

Yes happens all the time. But that is very expensive, don't use RM for anything over 2kg as they charge a fortune. FedEx and UPS are much cheaper.

A lot of idiots on eBay  now for sure and a lot of 0 feedback bidders that never ****ing pay. It's getting ridiculous! You did the right thing, if he really wanted it he would pay for it. He was just a retard trying to get on your tits   and I agree with lain you should message him the final price so maybe it will click how much of an douche bag he is.

he also doesn't seem to realise that someone in the UK might buy it with much cheaper shipping :?

I've had something broadly similar on RS. Some spanner offered me 40% of the asking price inc P&P and PP fees then had a go at me when I politely declined. Needless to say my second reply was far less diplomatic.
No shortage of wankers out there. Best just tell them **** off, block them and move on.

Ohh and keep an eye out for them ever listing anything and then have some fun

Postage is a pisser but it has to be paid. It's like people think you are ripping them off by making them pay postage

It's a given when buying from overseas.....US way or UK way....postage is going to be higher than when shipped in your own country. ****...the guys over in OZ get it in the ass daily on postage.

Tell him you'll send it brick, by brick to help keep the cost down. Only 3417 pieces to be delivered

Good idea in prinicpal but each brick would have to be sent as an international package @ £3.30 each so total cost for that would be £11276.10 - and that's without buying the envelopes

Postage between us and the US is crazy. Saying that I have found a cheaper option now with Fedex but I wont be telling him that!!!
