Hi guys,

Just wondered what the biggest GIFT payment anyone has ever done to the US?

I myself have just made an $1100 payment... Too tell you that I have my EVERYTHING crossed is an understatement!!

Answers on a postcard...

Bram
:D

mine was about 700USD i think... for an 1100USD gift payment, i would have to know the seller well (meaning he's an active and well known member on the forums).

But i guess there will be folks who have made much bigger gift payments than that. Also if i would feel insecure about a large amount gift payment, i would make an normal payment and cover the fees, this way the seller still gets the exact amount and i'll be safe (whatever that means to paypal).

Understood, but if your making a payment to the US and you pay the fees, then the seller would have to declare the amount on the shipping so you would end up paying customs charges. Hence the PP GIFT option.

He is pretty well known and through conversations I think/hope I can trust him. He is sending to a very trusted member on these boards who is in the US and will ship to me, so I should be okay there as the items will be tracked!

Cheers,

Bram

$4,625 by paypal gift! But the guy was well known enough for me to fine with it. I was more worried about postage and insurance.

Can I be a bit cheeky and ask what it is you have your everything crossed for Bram? :)

Bram,

If its An forum purchase, and you by Paypal and Pay the fees, that has nothing to do with the shipment. You can make this payment and just ask the Seller to ship the item trackable (Signed for), marked as gift with a 20 dollar value.
If its trackable and gets lost, i think Paypal only asks for the tracking number and if the Package is missing in transit it should be fine

Take it you got those Revenge Proofs ???

They look pretty nice was looking at them myself, congrats if you managed to bag them all.
My biggest gift payment was $1200 I think to Jeff on RS

Biggest gift I sent was $1400 to a guy in the US who I came across on RS! Didn't know the guy from Adam but did a bit of sniffing and went with my instinct and it all came good!! :D

Christ Oli you must have some serious doh man I put the breaks on at £100 a time man ;)

Bram, I'm assuming this is for the Revenge proofs. Mike was perfect to deal with for me. I wouldn't worry about it. I also would never gift that amount either though, haha.

Four grand! **** man. That's got to be a record or something  Did you tell your Mrs it was a tenner? I say that about everything

I think mines about $2000 as a gift but i really dont like doing it.

And i keep a second bank account so the missus cant see my transactions, i do tell her how much things are worth just in case she tries to use one of my proofs as a door wedge or something :)

One of my biggest payments (it was well over £1000) was not through 'Gift' but via Bank Transfer, so again no protection for the buyer. Had dealt with the seller before, but still a nervous few days.

Hope it works out Okay for you Bram - sure it will

Paul :)
