If you were ever forced to cut down, what will remain?

I would keep a full figure run including my beloved blue snag. Boxed imperial troop transport and tie fighter. Most of the rest could go.

I would never sell my childhood figures, the rest of it can go asap if needs be.
Its just one more thing to feed my collecting bug really, I love the memories the toys bring but thats it for me really, I'm not the type to go to shows, conventions.

I flit around on collecting things skateboards, vinyl etc so if the SW gear went there would always be something to fill the void. I wouldn't start on Newspapers though as I've seen on the Hoarder TV shows thats a slippery slope

I would save a few of POTF2 figures from childhood and then my Rancor and my loose yak face which are very special to me. They were given to me after an big operation I had 8)

Having gotten rid of most of my collection recently, I faced this dilemma myself.
Hung onto my LFB cardback collection, Graded Meccano Figure with card, 1977 Farmboy film cell and a loose EB figure.....I will let the pictures do the talking....

Wow didn't realise you'd cut the collection back that much Jeff, glad you've kept that clipper card.

I've also gone through a huge cut back in my collecting going from buying anything and everything to a Yoda focus and now happy with just my full loose set on display and my opened first 21 carded set.

Have to say by far the most fun I had was collecting the loose set, not having any of my childhood figures left, putting these together brought back so many memories and due to that now hold a special memory all of their own. Building a nice cabinet to display them in they have become a great talking piece and almost a work of art in themselves.

I can't say I'd be able to get rid of them unless absolutely needed.

Wow Jeff, that's quite the cull! At least you have *something* still on display, it's a shame when people get rid of everything.

Sorry if it was something you were forced to do by the way, we've all been there and most of us will be there again at some point unfortunately!

Ryan, now that you mention your loose set I sometimes wonder if after going off on our various collecting journeys over the years we aren't all just destined to come back to that kind of entry level achievement of owning a loose set. I know I regret selling off a couple of near complete loose sets over the years and it's something that I still think looks great on display, much more than almost anything else actually. If I were to start buying Vintage again I have no doubt that a loose set would be on the list of things to own again even if that was all I could own or had the budget for.

Set of loosies is almost instantly recognisable, doesn't break the bank, can be built up over time and when displayed is the perfect little tribute to the Vintage line..

....

All good Joe....Myself and the missus went to New York for 3 days with some of the proceeds. Long overdue holiday! Also have a family wedding abroad in September, myself the wife and little one all travelling, that needs paying for...

However, the majority has gone to fund Martial Arts training that I've got back into. Currently doing Brazilian jiu jitsu and Karate 4-5 times a week. That's costing a bit but I'm happy to be doing it

i moved out a year and a half ago and i was forced by my girlfriend at the time to size down, so i sold all of my g1 transformers, he-man, thundercats and ghostbusters figures and then also all of my vintage star wars ships and playsets :( i made about £500 so that went on some nice things, she let me keep my run of loose star wars figures and im pretty much happy i still have that set. we broke up just before xmas, doh!

I feel you pain brother

Man! That's a heartbreaker, my last ex before I met my wife, pushed me to sell my what was then a lot smaller collection, I told her to do one! My wife now just humours me!
The only item I would keep, if worst came to worst would be my misb speeder bike that my mum recently found in the bottom of her wardrobe. Was meant for me about 27 years ago, finally got it!! :D

wow, that is cool.

Love that stormie of yours Frank, you were ahead of your time mate.

That's exactly how I feel Joe, the loose collection holds so many memories for me as an adult as opposed to the memories I hold for these toys in my childhood. I had a great time Putting the set together as so many of the figures I'd never owned and quite a few more that I didn't even know existed.

First started collecting via Ebay then found this forum and along with it a great bunch of blokes who were like minded and having the same fun collecting as me. Things often go full circle in life but as I said earlier I don't think I could bring myself to part with the set unless we were in need of the cash.

If I had to sell up I think Id be happy with my Star Wars DVD's. I'm a fan of the movies and the toys.

Thanx to all of you keeping this thread so full of life and sharing your thoughts.

Kudos to Jeff, I must say I feel the same and I am afraid I will also end up with the loosies only - space gets smaller and smaller over the years and the rise of my two boys. So I guess I will need to reduce the whole vintage collection to the essence of what I love. If space gets even smaller than my worst fears, I'll stick to my first post of this thread:
I would keep my Action Figure Display stand that holds my minty mint first 12.

But I am so happy that it will take place in a few years from now and today I enjoy my boxed stuff plus my loose variants collection.

Some people have been through some proper vintage hardships having to let go their prized possessions :( thankfully haven't had to sell anything off yet. If needs must then I'd look to keep my loose set (sadly not my childhood ones) as they would give me all the joy and memories I need. I do still have my xwing and Rancor from childhood so they stay, I would also have to keep my prizes from the SWFUK comps the rest can go :)

My favourite Trilogo - Tie Fighter Pilot MOC
My 3 favourite square carded Meccano's
At least one Harbert (not sure which thought)
My re-sealed Palitoy Greedo
Greedo I won in Mumbo's competition
Mike Sith's Hoth Stormie pic
Lego Cantina

The rest can go.............................no Trilogo original Leia would stay as well she's a beauty, I couldn't let her go.
