Looking for a consensus on this. I'm looking to buy a MOC but its been AFA'd, but seeing as I'm not their biggest fan in the world I would be very likely to take it out of the case.

Whats the feeling on getting it out of the case? Yay or nay?

If I do it, do I then post it on RS in the AFA section?

Yay and nay. The breaking on RS has been done before and it will only start up the same old debates.

If you wanna break something out of an AFA case then go ahead. It will decrease the value a little is all. And that's your problem, no one else's. Like Emiel says i wouldn't bother telling everyone about it as you'll only start everyone off. I don't like AFA stuff either and so never buy it. And am specifically put off items that are AFA'd. They are worth LESS to me.
I have thought about buying one and breaking it out but it means paying more for the item and then devaluing it. Never seemed to make enough sense to me is all.

Unfortunately a lot of the nice MOCs on the market have been AFA'd, often because they are nice. So i do understand the problem.
I've found it especially hard to find decent ROTJ MOCs with clear bubbles. Leia Boush, Nien Nunb, Lando Skiff, Bib Fortuna, Admiral Ackbar etc etc. They've all either been AFA'd or UGraded. I won't pay the extra 100 quid for the plastic case so i'm screwed. Just have to keep waiting.

Forgot to point out that the figure isn't overpriced as usuall for an AFA piece, so value isn't an issue. Besides I'm not in it for the value (I don't expect to recoup any of my costs).

I don't see any problem breaking things out of AFA if you want to display it without the AFA case....When i was building my mint loose collection i really struggled finding a really mint Han solo....after i got to my 4th i still wasn't happy with it :( So i ended up buying a mint loose AFA one and didn't think twice about setting him free :D

saw the heading and thought of this lol

Once you've bought it it's yours to do what you want with. As long as you're not destroying the figure or damaging him by freeing him (and I very much doubt you're gonna do that) then by all means go ahead!
