you wait all week think you got sweet deal and then in the last 30 15 seconds boom its not yours! ****ing snipers....................

****ing well pissed off! still i should of put a sensible decent bid in that i thought the item was worth, serves me right for being a cheap skate lol...still i hate last second bidders snipers....grrrrr......

To be fair, i bid manually but i wait until there are 4 to 5 seconds left. I have missed many items by not bidding earlier but i prefer it this way. I get things cheaper and it stops shill bidding.

It is the worst tho, waiting a whole week for an item you're really keen on an then missing out on it. I feel for you. All i'd say is if you're gonna bid early then bid the maximum you're willing to spend on the item. Not the minimum. If you're lucky you'll get it cheap and if you're not then someone will pay more than you're willing to and win it off you but at least then you can say "well that was as much as i was willing to pay".

Couldn't aggree more with that, as you say if your beaten out that way you dont feel too bad.....I just try and add something to my watchlist then bid in the last minute. Although, saying that, I Can't remember the amount of times I've forgotten to check the list and come in from a night out on the beer to see that I missed something i've been wathching for 23d 14h 09secs..........

Yeah i still do that from time to time and it always pisses me off but i do get alerts to my phone so it happens less now.

End of the day, if you lost it, you didn't bid high enough lol

I don't get why people are so upset at people using sniping software? Surely it's irrelevant if they use it or not, if they bid higher than you then you are going to lose.

People don't just use snipes to piss others off, it's a very effective way of taking the human error aspect out of it (i.e - forgetting to bid) and it allows you to bid on things that might be ending when you should be sleeping. It also means that you don't create a bidding war ahead of the final few days/hours/seconds, holding off as long as possible is sometimes a great way of keeping the price low, there are people out there that see a load of bids flying in and just stick one in to be a part of the action for some strange reason.

I try to leave it till the last few seconds due to that now seemingly being the norm (boy has ebay changed over the years) but I still seem to get bloody snipped in the last 2 to 3 seconds, never used sipper software but I am also pissed with constantly loosing auctions you have been watching all week for the sake of 50p really makes your head go

I manually snipe. I'll wake up at ungodly hours to bid at the last second. I still get enjoyment out of the auction process. Being a cheapskate I loose out all the time but it makes my wins that much more fun.

In this day and age there really is no reason not to use sniping software. I used to get pissed about it too and then finally jumped on. I can put in my max bid there and forget about it. As Joe said it seems like sometimes people will just stick a bid in if you have your cards all laid out in the beginning. It's really only the last seconds that count anyway. Here's a free one that I've been using for years now. I try to occasionally use their Amazon affiliate link or send a little cash every now and then as they do seem to be in trouble in keeping it free to make ends meet.

I always bid or raise in the last 10 seconds. You get stuff cheaper and don't get shilled. It's also good to do it manually rather than using software as you get a better feel for what to bid as the price rises in the last few minutes of the auction.

Same method as me. Only problem with a last 10 second bid is if someone has previously put a better bid in, there's no time to raise yours.

Some times I go in at 20 seconds so I can go in at 10 again if there's a lot of bidders involved. All depends on how many bidders are involved.

Another sniper here. Only way i've bid for a few years now. I used to snipe manually, but would miss so many i searched out a sniper tool (Goofbay).
