Ok so I have not really invented a time machine (not yet anyway).

However if I do succeed what vintage goodness do you want bringing back.

You can only have One item this means: One Carded figure or One playset only..!! you can not have a set of 12 backs for example but if something is part of a set in the same box that is fine.

You can have any UK production item that made it onto our shelves....

I am going to go for a MINT Palitoy Cantina palyset................ So what will it be....?

A first run Lando Skiff guard, purchased from Harrords please. Long story, but that's where I got my one one Christmas :)

Palitoy 12 back R2

But I'd also bury a **** load of stuff in my back garden for me to find when I go back to the future......... :D

Depends, if you're not allowed to sell it the Cazza has nailed it: 30 back Boba Fett please. If I'm allowed to flog it then it'd be a DT Kenobi. I'd flog it and buy every MOC I could possibly want.

I'd wander round England looking for a 3-pack.

As they were probably never seen on UK shelves it would take a while but I'd be happy as a pig in mud wandering round listening to Abba, eating chicken kievs and arctic rolls and laughing at Man Utds football scores every weekend.

Good question; does a full shelf count as one item?!

I'd say a minty Palitoy Death Star, but once I'm placed in front of all that shop-fresh vintageness it might be a different story!

One of 2 items, but you'd also need a teleporter as both a foreign productions

  Bloody hell Frank I will start work on the teleporter as soon as I get finished with the time machine.... no pleasing some people.

Some interesting reply's there,, some wanting that one special piece and some thinking of the monetary gain..

By the way just to keep everyone in the loop I hope to have the machine completed by 2050... :D

That's why I said full shelf  :D

Not wishing to get philosophical but.... does the fact that all those vintage SW toys stayed on toy shop shelves for years in the mid/late 80s prove that time travel won't become a possibility in our lifetimes?

I have my own time machine, but thanks for the offer

Holy ****. You are a genius. Seriously, though; how has that thought never occurred to me before? So simple and yet so conclusive.

*EDIT* Although, how do we know there wasn't even more stuff left on the shelves but timetravel scalpers had their fill? In fact, SW might have actually been a genuine flop in its first (in a space/time sense) release and the only reason it was ever successful because time travellers made up 95% of the audience! The toy line was a flop and cancelled after the first 12 figures! Gah! Paradox!!!!

Yeah tough cookie to crack me you know

Some others have also lost the plot & would need the teleporter though as DT figures never hit the shelves here in the UK nor the 3 packs.

Here's what I would have if I could if limited to production pieces

16 figure early mailer

canadian 9 pack of MOC's

What? No love for the Palitoy 12 Back Vinyl Jawa? That would be the piece I'd grab in a heartbeat!

Re the stuff hanging around on the shelves for ages proving that time travel isn't possible, I would argue (with my tongue firmly in my cheek) that all that proves is that either not many people time travelled back to buy SW stuff, or else that no-one / not many people did it within our timeline. Subscribers to the Many Worlds Theory and or Multiverse might argue that if you somehow managed to time travel, but wound up in an alternate timeline, you could empty the shelves as much as you liked without affecting our memories of what actually happened here in our own timeline... Not sure that I'd argue that though! :D
