How rare is "rare"?

Are we not missing the other Top Toys figures the Glasslite figures and the special offer moc's or boxes ?

This is the problem for a topic like this, IMHO things like vc jawa, yak face are not rare. Go on eBay any day of the week and you can buy one.

As for glasslite, lili ledy, top toys, Meccano its a different matter.

For example top toys yoda's cost $350-$550 loose, Meccano fetts mint say £200+

I second that. I used to think of myself as a seasoned collector before my long break. After coming on here though it's like a different world. I knew of variants but not things like Glasslite or Meccano. I didn't even know there was a figure called Vlix! As for the vinyl caped Jawa, i'll bet most of the ones on Ebay are fake.

The thing with the likes of the dt, vcj , blue snagg amd yak man, is that they have great stories attached to them. These figures are more rare than the standard production figures.
most of the vcj on ebay are repro or the same figures doing the rounds.

Exactly- im sure if the LL Fett was highlighted as much as the Jawa, people would say thats no rare.

Eventhough the VC Jawa isn't as rare as first thought, i feel that you can go to far the other way. Its probably highly traded and top of most lists- hence why its always one or 2 going online.

I'd like to highlight that if you needed £200+ quick- nothing would guarentee a sell that day quicker than VC Jawa. Its easy money. Where a £200+ ROTJ Boba Fett might take a few days (as an example)

I think you might be right Maul i was bidding on a 12 back the other day i looked through the sellers feedback and discovered he had only bought it 5 weeks prior and was selling it on, I have also seen the same DT luke come up 2-3 times from different sellers as its a low scoring AFA example with really dark arms and a bent tip i get the feeling people buy it look at it and sell it on as its not the best looking example.

This has raised my interest in perhaps purchasing a DT Luke for my collection when i get back from my travels (after i have bought the elusive Luke Stormtrooper MOC).
