Hi guys ,

Been burned twice today , sent a couple of figures off for grading , the 1st one was a mint R2D2 12 back , I thought he would grade easy 80 overall , bought him a couple of years ago , went for grading today and the R2 has a bad motivatior he has been glued at the top corner and hence a reseal , I have been collecting for years and missed this , the other one graded low , same again got burned with this one

I have had hundreds of Mocs over the years and still get burned

Steve

Not meaning to be rude mate, but enjoy them for what they are and dont pay someone to give it a grade.

By the way AFA had hundreds of Tonis over the years, and still dont give a toss. Why on earth would you use them or any other grading company??

Don't worry about it and take it on the chin. I like sending my stuff off to and had some get refused for ink touch up's. They still look good in the case I think, evan a beater looks good in an acrylic case. Sliding bottom or whatever.

Some people like grading, some don't. I find the collectors that do like grading don't really shout about it tho.

And those of us who don't like it tend to bellow it from the rooftops ;)

Every collector gets taken for a mug at some point. I fell for a custom/recard 21 back Luke X-Wing once, and I'd been collecting for 10 years!

I spent £120 on a fake VC Jawa in 1999, what a stitch up that was.

I remember saying at the time, it looks real I'll have it.

When I started collecting I bought what I thought were two mint R2's together, one solid, one sensorscope. Both have repro stickers. Didn't have a clue, wet behind the ears! Mugged right off. They sit on my desk now but I kind of like them, like my TT Chewie they remind me of my early clueless days  8)

I received a MOC figure today which wasn't quite as described (an understatement) - I was paying top money anyway, but now it looks like I've overpaid by quite a margin. Not a reseal, but definitely a lesson learned.

Paypal claim!

I can emphasize with you buddy. I've been burned by a few tiny dots of ink touch ups and never realized. But at least you know the graders are doing their jobs by refusing items because of it.

One of my first deals I got burned for £1700. Guess where... EBay again, I STUPIDLY sent a seller a cheque for what I believed to be a full MOC set of SW figs. Anyway no box ever arrived and the tracking number supplied never worked. Sellers ID was something like DennisMayfield55 Looking at the pics after ward they were all recarded figs because the POTF didn't have any coins stuck to the MOCs. That deal hurt quite a bit but I stuck around. This was like late 2006ish time.

I'm waiting to see what the seller comes back with (if anything), and will sit on it for a few days to make sure its not just buyers remorse. But otherwise, you might be right - never done a paypal claim before, so that will be a learning process in itself!

Edited to add - this wasnt through/on the forum, so not a passive/aggressive post towards anybody here!

Fortunately there are some great sellers out there too , however everybody is turning into a star wars expert now . I am still learning and have been collecting for over 30 years
