How many figs in a full variant collection?

I thought I'd start a variant thread for a change :lol:

How many variants would you have to collect to have a full set covering every figure? Has anyone ever worked this out or is it impossible to say?

Thats if you include all major, minor and foreign variations.

I've got about 400 or so now and could probably list another 100 that I don't have, or have seen in other collections.

Every collector has their own opinions as to what is a variant and with new ones being found all the time we'll never know (or care) how many there are !!! :lol:
