Guys as time goes on I was wondering how many figures do you reckon are still sealed?
I can't understand why anyone would even consider opening sealed figures for selling.
Maybe 10s of 1000's still exist I have no idea yes a quick buck might be made but it's not crazy money that we could retire on.
Maybe I am over reacting reading other posts.
I would like think members on the forum would not even consider these practices.
If I am honest I have thought about it but only for the nostalgia. But reality hits and I realise anything I would ever want can be bought.
Please if anyone's thinking about it don't break the seal on them carded figures.

It's over rated. I once opened a Trilogo lando General in 1997 cos carded were cheaper than loose back then, and also a £5 trilogo ATST Driver about 15 years ago cos I accidently melted the bubble while trying to fix frosting. They smell nice though.

Opening up a MOC for whatever reason is not something that a vintage collector would ever do.
The passion for the hobby of the guys on here is just that, a passion. There are many of us that collect on a budget, and beater mocs and reseals are fine, as these are the mocs that the
Nefarious may split up and sell, for me they are vintage and happy days in whatever state they may be. But to open a sealed Moc, no way.

Having said that, there are always people in the world that will do what they want, and try to get a rise out of others.

What smelt nice the melted bubble or figure? What wer you using an iron? I never tried that I have an at-at driver partly sealed :)

Edd has just closed down the last thread - lets not start this all again

Danny has been banned from loads of FB groups as it is alleged he opened at least 1 x Thall Joben card to sell the parts - he is denying this

I don't think we need to rehash it on here

FWIW, i actually left all the groups (ok maybe I got in first) apart from 12 backs and early SW group that I was banned from. I was actually invited back into that one (the only good SW Facebook group) but declined.

But don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

It's fine Danny I probably shouldn't have started this thread.
I did ask you a question earlier so your reply is that you only ever opened 2 mocs which were completely sealed?

A hairdryer. I wouldn't recommend it though.

I just think it's pathetic. In all my years collecting I've known so called 'super collectors' open sealed cases, sealed boxes, open mailers, split up finds of prototypes, open many carded figures and cut cards, remove prototype items from sprues to sell on, etc and yet I get vilified for 'allegedly' opening a tatty Kez ****ing Iban. That was already partially open ffs. Echo base is a bag of shite, full of beaters these days so no don't give a toss, but ill admit i was disappointed in the 12 back group.

I have no idea what your on about because I am not a member of those groups sorry :D

For what it's worth Danny I agree that the blanket ban on Facebook was OTT, like you say many other collectors/dealers have done it and anybody who claims they haven't bought things to sell for a profit is a hypocrite. I'm 100% against U grading and opening sealed shipping cases etc, but like it or not it happens and is part of this hobby (to me opening a brown cardboard mailing box is no better than opening a MOC.) That's why despite being asked to, we have not banned you from here.

But as Iain said this has already been discussed and got out of hand, so no more on the subject on this forum please.

I've seen one off proof sheets cut up to sell on individually and box flats made into mint boxes to sell. Nobody seemed to really care then.

Thanks Max and Edd for helping to put it into perspective. However, the facebook thing gave me good reason to get out of the hobby, I've been bored of it for a while. I've come to realise that trying to keep up with a constant 24hr feed of SW isn't good for your sanity. Getting it off my Facebook has been a breath of fresh air and I'm going to leave all aspects of collecting once I sell my last few spares.

By the way, to the OP. There are tens of thousands of carded figures around. If not hundreds.
