I heard that the black wampa came as a result of 'Hoth' as a concept was brought to the table a little late.
A source said "originally, the wampa was a creature local to the coal mines of North Yorkshire".
Early storyboards show Luke rocking up to a disused mine shaft in a dust cart.
Lucas had to re-visit his idea after Thatcher closed the pit's.

You know what, they ruined the Wampa by releasing that deleted extra footage in the Hoth ice base. After watching that i thought it was ****. That scene is so embarrassingly bad :evil:

A black Wampa would have stood out a mile on Hoth. But yes, down't Wigan pit, probably quite suitable
