Hoth Stormtrooper Advice - Grey or fake?

Now I know I'm going to get laughed at here but I'll ask the question anyway.

I have a Hoth Stormtrooper with grey arms and legs. I know everyone says they're fakes but I bought the little beggar in a collection about 20 years ago. Does anyone have any history on these things or info on where they came from? A kid I was at uni with swore he had one when he was a kid and I always used to tell him they didn't exist!

Your comments would be appreciated.

Basically Billy Boy was once a respected collector who was a palitoy "expert" but then ripped off a load of collectors by selling a load of fake Palitoy unpainted bagged samples.In the above link he claimed he didn't know how to spot a fake until someone posted a link to his post about the grey limbed snowtroopers that he made a couple of years earlier bragging about his knowledge on how to spot fakes which exposed him as a liar!

I read some of it....But what happened in the end? Did he end up selling all his stuff and paying everyone back like he said he would? and more to the point....did he get the **** kicked out of him?

The whole 'Billy Boy' fiasco was one of the reasons i didn't start collecting in earnest until late last year. I have been reading the forums for many years and it just seemed to be one scandal after another, the main reason i now only collect loose i only have repro weapons to worry about.
If i remember correctly he paid back a few people then just vanished, but his (or his familys) ebay accounts are still active and with some dodgy items every now and then. Last year he had a load of Action Force prototypes for sale that were even worse than his palitoy bagged ones.

Yeah Silver,, it was han duo i was thinking about for the spelling and general weirdness , the billy boy thing is scary,,, as i see names there i recognise chatting away ,, then it all goes bad , real bad.

Its not the scamming its the broken trust that would piss me off the most.
as with Rich its one reason why i am pretty much sticking to loose and the good old drop and float test for repro weapons.

You're right he did, seems to be a common ploy amongst low lifes and scamming twats. That bloke from South America "died" when eveyone found he was a scammer as well didn't he, the one with the Lily Ledy proto/overstock items he had discovered and the other rare bootleg bits he had.
I'd like to say these things still surprise when they happen but as long as there is money to be made there will be conning bastards.

:shock: i just finished read the entire 12 pages and sub links of that billyboy thread,, F**K me that is one grade A Pr##k .

but like a good book i was really getting into it,, but it goes up to 2010 then nothing.. what happened?? legal action? the meeting at memoribilia? Any actually go on a road trip?? refunds? him dying of cancer??

I presume he is still out there if he is listed under a new ebay id,, but what of the baggie scandal?? did folks just give up??

Or did a plane load of swedes and yank join forces with brits with bats and tease £8000 grand outta him??
