I was fortunate enough to see Ham and his cousin a while back at a fair for a meet up and they are doing some great stuff which im sure will really impress everyone when they come to exhibiting it.

It's always sad to lose people from this hobby but it great to hear that you are still around ham and involved in Sw in a roundabout kinda way. I know it was a tough year for you so I'm glad to hear things are improving and that you are keeping really busy.

I, like many others I'm sure look forward to you showcasing some of your latest artworks.

All the best mate.

Chris.

......... I was trying to crack a joke about scientology and the religion that isn't a cult when it blatantly is!

Question, and apologies if I offend anyone by this, but what exactly is the difference between a cult and religion!?

I see them as one and the same thing. The only difference is, SOME cults have been around long enough and have become sufficently widespread that they are now accepted as religions.

In the interests of not starting a huge debate about religion i'll leave it there.

But I am genuinely intrigued, is there a recognised criteria a 'cult' needs to meet before it is considered a 'religion'? Gary, as our resident expert on religion, you're probably the most qualified to answer.

I agree tho i really don't want to get into a religious debate (massive forum no no) but it annoys me when people have a go at scientology. Not because i support it, i don't it's ridiculous, but it's NO DIFFERENT from any other religion.
And to answer your question; The difference between a religion and a cult is numbers. That's it. There are enough Scientologists to confirm it's status as a religion. If there were only 200 or so followers it would be a cult.
A "cult" is defined thus:

Noun:
- A system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
- A relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.

If that doesn't describe all religions (apart from the "small number" part) then i'll eat my neighbours Ox.

hey tigerham read an old post the otherday and wondered where'd you gone, glad your ok and still into starwars even if its not vintage collecting  i dabble in painting on canvas so im looking forward too what you been upto when your putting them up online for sale

Just to say that ALL religions of any kind were fit for their times. The interpretation just needs up-dating for modern day society and with only sincerity in my tone I know I can do so and I hope others too. I also know that what 'religion' was meant for has been well misinterpreted for sure. To me 'religion' is just a label and I know from experience that people do judge a label so to speak. Again I am not religious and IF it had to be labelled then maybe more towards spirituality but 'simply' call it feelings and understandings.

Since I have found my 'true self' things have really opened up for me, people & life. If you are wondering what 'true self' is then it's simply yourself with NO issues. Hard for some to believe that anyone could have no issues but I personally know this to be true as I don't (anymore from about 2 months ago) suffer from 'ego', 'pride', 'ignorance', 'arrogance' or any other negative for that matter including 'vanity' to. Men suffer more than women with 'ego' & 'pride' and women suffer more with 'vanity' and this is simply because of the 'society' we live in. True form can be stripped of all of this in the simplist of ways. Society has chucked so many details and complications into the mix so to speak and all life is about is 'simply' positives & negatives'

I won't go on anymore BUT if anyone is interested then please PM me and I will help them to understand.

I have been helping many others with any issues in their 'selves' over the last month or two and yes mainly women as MOST don't have a hard shell of 'ego' or 'pride' to get through so easy for them to understand what I am saying.

Anyway, I'll hush for now, lol. ~;D

Just a side note now I see things from a different perspective: ALL that bickering & trying to be clever on RS is so time wasting when there is so much beauty in this world to start bickering about the silly details. Yes ok, if it's contsructive information about the hobby but we all know what RS can be like at times. Ego over ego I think. ~:D

And to 'ponchobelt' Chris, thank you for your kind words and they will be up soon I am sure. I have been side tracked painting some personal paintings for my family. I am really interested to see your work if I can sometime dude. ~:D

Glad to hear your doing well. Nothing wrong at all with being positive....besides I will spew negatives all over the egos enough for the both of us.
