Is it wise for me to start collecting moc?

Going to aim for debut cards and potf can be on trilogo cards as can rotj as that's how I remember them most!

I have no room to display them at the moment but we will be moving at some point in the near future.

Oh yes! a wise move :D i am sure u can find places to display them. When my son was born, i had to give up my SW room, so the mrs let me have them displayed on the wall in our bedroom and the rest of the stuff got boxed up in the loft, until we moved 8)

Depending on condition, you could be looking at an investment of £3-5K.

Now spread out over a few years that might no be too bad. Though you could potentially complete the set in under a month, or even a week as they are all reasonably well available. However there's not much fun in doing that and financially it is easier spread out.

I think the real question is why do you want to collect them?

Like you I was in a bit of a dilemma years ago about whether to start.

I can't really remember what made me decide to. I think I felt that I wouldn't be satisfied with my collection until I did, that somehow it same the ultimate way to collect. And as carded figures were a lot rarer then to me the nostalgic appeal was great. This was all a long time before I decided to collect palitoys. I came to the conclusion that I should while sat in my car waiting for my girlfriend to return from some shops. That week I won my first carded figure on eBay a tri-logo imperial gunner. 8)

Perhaps you should take your wife shopping....see if you get the same type of clarity

I think I am gonna take the plunge but take it really slowly and just enjoy the chase like I did with my loose collection.

Good luck mate :) I think carded figures are my favourite things to collect !

Do it buddy.....Just stay away from AFA.....watch for repros and reseals...and you will do just fine. It really is not that expensive unless you are out for C10 stuff.

Bollux,

You should start on Jedi cards and by the time you have acquired a few you will be properly hooked and making the leap to the Empire cards wont seem so bad and so on until you reach the 12/20 backs.

Good luck mate.

Grant.

Looks like i'v got some competition now

I'm the same as you bollox got all of about 6 carded or so,although I have at one point or another had many many more, seriously regret getting rid of them now but had to really to finally finish my joes.

It will be good collecting alongside you mate,i'm not competitive at all and wish you all the best, just keep away from my bidding

Cheers Grant, probably exactly what I will do, perhaps get some jedi ones from Christmas from my folks.

And Browny, there is no competition trust me! I am too tight to be competitive!

Most MOC collectors have certain things they will accept wont accept in terms of condition.

I.E

Clear Bubbles, Yellow Bubbles, Borwn Bubles , Bubble Dings, Bubble Cracks, Bubble lifting, Card ceases ink touch ups, pops removed / present etc etc etc etc.

Have you thought about what your aims are condition wise Chris?

bubble dings and light creases i can live with i think because they would have got those from being in the shops back in the day anyway!

Yeah im like that especially with Tri Logos.

I wont get MOC's with cracked bubbles or pops removed mind. Plus i only get clear bubbles or if its a rare MOC i would accept a yellow tint if there was no alternative.

Jay

yeah i dont really want cracked bubbles though i guess i wont pops being removed from some of the more expensive ones!

i must admit, i have become really picky, i want ones with alost perfect bubbles, no yellowing, cracks and minimum dings and one thing i do hate are price stickers.
