I have heard great things about this site and was wondering if you could help..... I am looking for a really special present for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. He is a long term Star Wars fan and I would like to get him a collectable. I know a little of the makes and various subtle differences in the figures but not enough to know what prices I should be paying or what would be a good figure to add to his collection.
Also are there any Star Wars exhibitions worth going to this year in the UK?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
:D

Not a problem:

As for figure- does he collect them in or out of packaging? What is your budget?

There is also a sales section:

What a great gesture and one that I'm sure your boyfriend will be very pleased about :)

Try to avoid ebay as it can be a minefield and you may end up paying out a lot of money for something that isn't what it seems.

There are plenty of great sellers on this forum with a variety of quality items that may fit your requirements and like Grant (Maulster79) has said check out the FS thread and see if there is anything that catches your eye.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions there are plenty of top people on this forum who will be willing to help you out.

Happy hunting :)

Thank you to Maulster79 and Mumbo, I really appreciate your help.

Maulster79; in relation to your comments... I will have a better look at the events over the weekend and will hopefully find one. At the moment he collects more loose figures however he does have a few mint on card which I guess are the holy grail of the collection. My budget would be approx £100-£200 dependant on the figure. I know the key figures but are there any that are particularly special?

Mumbo; duly noted about eBay, thank you, it really would have been a minefield! If it's ok with you guys I will have a look at what I think he will like and then maybe pick your brains again.

Thanks once again
:D

Your more than welcome :)

Does your BF have a favourite character/figure or does he have a focus (collects all variants of a certain figure)?

With that budget you can certainly pick up something very nice indeed whether that be some nice loose figures or even a MOC or two.

:)

Hi Minnie,

You have come to the right place for help and advice. Does your other half have his collection on display. It may help to take a snap so that the guys on the forum get a bit of a feel as to where his collection is going and what might fit.

As an aside, if you are searching for sellers online, you may happen across a website called "toytoni" from a dealer in brighton. There is a substantial thread and a condensed evidence thread on the forum about him. I would suggest you read the condensed one prior to buying anything from him. Just a heads up.

Is your boyfriend a member or reader on this forum? if not, then like Mr-Shifter says, take a snap shot and show us (if you don't want to post it in the open, you can always me-mail or pm it to some people who want to try to help), this would be some good help to give us an idea what he collects and likes and based on that we could give you some better info on what to look out for...

Anyway, i like the fact your doing this for your BF. Wished my missus would do this for me once...

Mumbo - gosh... A favourite figure... Luke is probably a given but i will try and do a little digging and see if I can find out.....
Is there anything that could be displayed either in a custom made frame to protect it or something similar. Would be nice for him to be able to see it rather than being shoved out of sight!

Mr-shifter - thanks for the note about the Brighton seller, will remember that!

Mr-shifter and Stargeezer - will see what I can do about pics.

Thanks to all
Minnie

Well you have many different display option, frames, acrylic cases, cabinets, ...

If you buy something graded, its allready in an acrylic display case, but you can buy similar cases with sliding bottom aswell if you buy an ungraded moc or loose figure. A case is fairly cheap and give that true museum look to your item.
