The cases arrived the other day - would have had them much sooner but I missed the courier hence the delay.
Well to say I am impressed is an understatement, not that I was expecting anything less than fantastic when guys like Iain and Grant are endorsing them.
First thing I have to say is the standard of the packaging - wow! Each individual case is in a bubble wrap sleeve, then in a cardboard box stacked inside a strong outer box. Not only are these individual little cardboard boxes great for protection but they really give them a quality feel, nice and thick and cut to the exact size of the acrylic case. I have a MOC that I am getting for xmas and my wife was pretty chuffed putting it in the case then back into it's cardboard box before hiding it away.
As soon as you handle the cases you appreciate the quality feel (quality will be a common theme in this review) both in looks and feel.
All five cases were lovely and clear, no scuffs, no marks no dust or foreign objects inside. Where pieces have been glued together there is zero overspill or distracting bubbles.
The tray slides in and out effortlessly and again with a quality feel - I know someone had concerns the tray may slide too easily but for me it just feels right, the channel is perfectly uniform and runs true so the tray never jams.
The finishing is where the cases come into there own - no sharp or rough edges, all joins are smooth and almost invisible which again just adds to the quality feel.
The cases are not much wider than the card back so really help to show them off to their best potential. Tried a few different MOCs in them and all went in without any problems and all were held in place nice and securely.
So to sum up - The cases are great, the packaging is great and Christian is average - only joking he's a top bloke and real pleasure to deal with so if you are considering taking the plunge and making the move from Star Cases to Acrylic I can't recommend Christian and GW Acrylics enough, do it you won't regret it
Colin.
