Weasel it's a paper thing with words in.
I've posted this on many forums and I'm getting nowhere. I can't remember the name or author which doesn't help I suppose. All I can remember was that I read the book in paperback around 1990. It was set in olden times and was a fantasy novel. All I can remember was that there was a Stonehenge type monument which had magic powers. I believe the other army had a monument too. Towards the end of the novel the hero managed to trigger the monument and a coloured stream of light burst into the sky - possibly red. A bit like Children of the Stones the old BBC show in that respect. I believe the cover was orange/red.
I thought it was Fred Saberhagan's Empire of the East (which is great) but I bought that and alas it is not.
Any ideas?
