Hiya guys,

I'm making a purchase from the US, it's 2 high end loose figures
and a graded vehicle. I'm worried about Customs charges as the parcel
will be insured for quite a bit.

Any tips on what I can do? What about splitting the parcels up?

Thanks

Stu

Wow Nurnsy you're on a roll there. 8)

On topic: As far as I know insured value and customs value are not the same. The seller can still put a low value on the customs for while insuring it for a higher amount.

Its basically a declaration of value which is a legal requirement, if they dont put the correct value and then insure for higher they can smell a rat and open it up.

I have no issue with asking them to mark things down on the declaration, its a very small risk...but still illegal for the seller not to declare.

at the end of the day its only so the government can have your pants down and take more money to spend on their gardening expenses :)

not a lot you can really do Stu, as yet I've never had an international parcel go missing so I normally take the gamble of a low declared value.

But if it's high end I take a chance with customs. I've still only been stung a couple of times.

I normally have a very low value put on the parcel (about £35), but i will have the item sent with tracking.
I have never had a tracked parcel go missing.
