Hi all,

I am newbie to this forum as well as vintage SW collecting (have always been closet fanboy though)

I am not sure if I'm posting in the right place..please correct me if I'm wrong.

I bought a DVtie fighter on Ebay and paid using paypal few weeks back. The seller delivered it using parcel2go/hermes tracked. They apparently "delivered on the porch" but I never received the parcel. It is interesting that there was someone at home (no one rang the bell), there was gardener in the front-lawn and no calling card was left!!! Neighbors are also not aware. I don't' think it's stolen (very secure)

The seller did not insure the item. Now the seller is really helpful and doing all he can (I think). He still needs to contact Pay2go/Hermes etc (which he promises he will do).

What are my options? Should I just take it on the chin?

Regards

Welcome aboard

I would say that if the seller has no proof of delivery then you will win your case with eBay if you open it up - sounds like the seller is trying to help but it is his responsibility to get the item to you - it is always a difficult situation if the seller is being helpful so at the end of the day you need to decide whether it is them or you that takes it 'on the chin' if the item is lost

P2Go/Hermes are notoriously bad - most of their agents drop and run, there's 2 regulars where I am - one just leaves it and goes, and the other taps gently on the door then leaves it and goes (if I didnt see him come down the path I wouldnt know he tapped). Its piss poor.

One time I saw him coming down the path with no parcel and a note to stick through the door cos there were "a few parcels" lazy ****er couldnt be bothered to take them out the back and was going to pretend I wasn't in!

As far as your case goes - don't take it on the chin - courier has ****ed up. There's zero proof of delivery.

Get the tracking number off the seller, and check online yourself at the status - then contact your local hub and complain, complain and complain.

Don't get fobbed off by these guys.

I hope it's resolved quickly for you.

This is something i never understood about the postal service...

You Pay some Company to deliver a Package from A to B. And i they fail, either the buyer or the Seller is screwed...

The postal office Always cover their ass with the "you did not take insurance" Whilst here in Belgium they don't even offer insurance anymore On international packages...

If i Pay someone to do a job and they **** up, i expect them to correct it or i want my money Back.

For example if i hire a painter and he paints half our house and then runs out of paint, i expect him to buy some more paint and i don't wanna hear "but you did not take the low paint-insurance" bullshit... But that's how the PO treads us.

Hi mate.

e-Bay/Paypal will always decide in your favour if they have no proof. It is the sellers responsibility to provide adequate insurance to cover himself. I learnt the hard way.

I was asked not to provide insurance as it ramps the cost up then when the buyer received his items and signed for them as "delivered in good condition" then contacted me later that day with pics of damaged packaging and goods.

I obviously immediately contacted PayPal and they said it was my responsibility and it makes no difference whether the buyer wanted me to send uninsured or not. You always have to cover yourself.

Basically he scammed me, asked for no insurance, signed for it in good condition then as he knew it had no insurance and could claim said he wanted a 70% refund or a full refund!!

Lesson learnt: Always cover yourself or don't deal.

For you, I would work with him as much as you can but you can't take the hit if its not your fault, sending unrecorded with no insurance is just a recipe for disaster and he will learn just like I did I guess!

Hope this helps?

That's unbelievable Nick. What an absolute lazy ****ing twat!

Yeah I agree with Dennis, the postal services don't like to take responsibility for anything. You shouldn't have to pay insurance to make sure a company does their job for ****'s sake, it should be a given

Hi Jasdev999and welcome to this great forum mate.

I always worry when a seller uses the above, to be fair I've had no problems but im never too confident about them.
Having said that the last 2 items I received were quickly handed to me and off they went when a signature was required, leaving it open to fraud.

iain above is spot on (he always is  )

Good luck with it

Unbelievable that some of these guys just leave parcels on your doorstep.

I've had this once as well. Saw that my parcel (with some PS3 games) was supposed to be delivered two hours earlier online, but had not received anything. Went to check if it was at the neighbor's house and it was just sitting there on my neighbor's doorstep. There's no garden there, so basically the courier just put it on the sidewalk.
Anyone could have just picked it up and taken it home.

And agreed that it would seem like a bad thing to have a helpful seller refund to you, but it might teach him not to use these unreliable courier services. Hope it gets resolved for you!

@Stargeezer, so true. If a parcel is really lost because of **** delivery/services, there should be a way to have the company pay for it.

This is the flip side of using the cheap parcel delivery services, they are cheap but the delivery guys are usually absolute morons, thieves or arseholes.

I agree mate - I'm about to try and persuade a seller no to use hermes, he wants £10 for an economy delivery?
Would be cheaper with RM special delivery :?

Thats ridicolous!

I know mate I couldn't believe it,, but there it was no card through the door or anything.... So unprofessional.

I am just glad it was not a haul of vintage Star Wars toys..

Hermes responded that the inspite the fact that the courier left the parcel in a secure place/porch and did not leave the calling card is "following proper procedure". They were satisfied with the courier's response.

So took the matter in my own hands, spoke to my local postie (who is a 100% certified go-to-guy btw) who has seen this Hermes courier on a few occasions. Postie almost jumps in front of his car to stop him this morning, and on enquiring found out that this idiot has delivered the parcel in the back porch of a house at least 6-7 miles from mine. That house is called Lakeside and mine is Lakewood (but entirely different post code !!!).

I have a new found respect for Royal Mail and my local postman. Off with him to the local to buy him a few pints than.

So go figure.....Still havent' got my DVtie rider but lot of hope now (maybe tommorow).

well your lucky lol :)

hermes are well known for slack postal handling, and claiming an item has been delivered when its just been dumped, at least your issue should turn out ok though
