Hello everyone, I've just joined the forum. Have to say I've been checking the forum out for the last few months since getting a few of my carded figures graded, and have been impressed with the job you do in the trading world. One of the figures I took to get graded in November 2014 was a Palitoy Boba Fett, and it was then I first heard of this Toy Toni scandal. They said they couldn't grade it because it was a suspect, not that was definitely TT. That was a shock, but I bought it nearly 20 years ago from a toy fair, so if it is a TT my research says it'll still make me more than I paid.

Basically I like how you "police" eBay for dodgy items, and therefore makes all us collectors safer from scams.

I have a collection of carded figures. I've decided to start selling them in order to fund the collection of the 12 backs. I am currently in the process of getting several graded, and the ones I had graded are now on eBay so I have funds to buy the 12 backs. The other carded ones, I'm still in the process of watching prices on eBay to decide whether it's worth getting them graded before sale. Some figures sell for considerably more when graded, and some don't. Obviously on top of the postage and grading fees, I still need to make a certain amount of profit for it to be worth the hassle of grading.

I wanted to get my first listings up on eBay so I had a good way to introduce myself, here they are

Star Wars Luke Skywalker ROTJ 65 Back-D AFA 80 Palitoy C80 B80 F85 MOC carded

Thanks for having a look.

I look forward to contributing to the forum now I'm signed up and in the game.

What's concerning me is what it would be worth if I'd kept it for 15-20 years.

More concerning is shipping that fat pig in a yellowed bubble with no way of directly protecting it.

AJ is spot on - I would be ultra concerned about shipping anything like this encases in acrylic - there bubble are know to crack at the slightest touch

Ok, noted. I was planning on buying a plastic box from the pound store as inner protection. Gonna wrap the case in bubble wrap, put in the plastic box filled with crumpled newspaper, then in a bigger cardboard box and again padded with newspaper. Hopefully if they are in or near the London area I can take it in person.

Deliver in person is the only option IMO, that said it made it to AFA and back without any damage which suggests the bubble is strong and GG don't really move about on POTF cards which is often the cause of yellow bubbles cracking in transit. Just my opinion tho. :?

I actually took it over in person. I went to the States in November, so had a check where the AFA was located in relation to Atlanta - where we were starting our Southern Fly Drive. Well stuff me, it was just 30 mins drive from the airport lol. I was in the US just long enough that they could grade them in meantime, but I had to pay the higher tier.

Ooooooo nice figures!! Specially Mr Yak there.

No way in a million years I'd put it in the hold. I took the figures over in a tough tupperware box in my carry on. I have a rucksack I bought on eBay that is the exact dimensions for carry on, so it's pretty big for a rucksack.

The lower tier is for items worth $200, costs $35, and takes about 45 days not including postage. I needed mine done while I was still there so had to pay the premium tier of $60 so it was ready in a couple of weeks. I don't know if you said it's worth $200 but they say it's worth more so would need to charge more. I'm just starting with all this so have a lot to learn. That's why I started off slowly - get a few figures graded, get a few sold, see what the pitfalls and things I need to watch out for are. If I could keep the GG I would now, but I've promised not to end it early. I wanted to keep the rare ones, but wasn't aware this was so rare.

To be honest I don't really have any affinity with POTF cards. I want the 12 backs for nostalgia reasons. I now have 6 of them. When I get those I'll decided where to go from there. Maybe the 20/21 backs. I only originally bought these 2 as the toy fairs I attended 20 years ago had limited carded figures, so I'd buy whatever they had in top condition.
