Hi. My name is peter, and I'm a starwars-a-holic

I recently decided to flog all of my star wars stuff, but keep and finish what I consider the vintage collection and build a lovely wall cabinet for them, and leave it there.

My conditions are the following
no duplicates/variants - i have r2d2 with his blue periscope, I dont need the other ones
condition - the played with look to match what I had as a kid, not interested in mint
last 17 - at first I decided against it.. but I couldnt help myself. I had to have Amanaman, I already had Anakin..
singular carded - I don't consider sy snootles etc as part of the collection
weapons - repro are okay like Amanaman's staff I picked up recently, thats part of the charm
(I've almost got the entire episode 1 figures set, so tempted to do the same as they don't appear to be worth much)

Ive never really been a completist collector, i just used to buy star wars stuff, especially when I travelled around france, germany and italy on business trips. I have some random stuff to sell and will be using ebay and maybe here.

heres some stuff Im looking to move on
vintage boba, lando and a stormtrooper (goodness knows how I ended up with two lando's!!)
ive got 157 carded potf, flashback, tri logo, potj, guerre etolies (italian), EU, etc
12" boxed potf such as han and luke stormtrooper, luke and wampa, and many singles
ships - vintage battle damaged x-wing, vintage tauntaun, rancor, episode 1 naboo princess electronic cruiser, a couple of mini rigs
and lots of other stuff - limited edition naboo fighter with mini fig, darth vader mask, boba fett mask, plush jabba

Theres also a vintage 12" luke, but I dont think I can let him go.

I'm not sure what you're saying here.

Good Points.

1. Great idea of completing loose collection I like that.

And that's it.

Bad Points

1. Repros are crap and damage the hobby. Every penny sent to these idiots is money they can use to improve their techniques.
2. No love for modern stuff from the bulk if these guys. There's a modern section for that.
3. It looks as though you're just sugar coating a giant ad.

Will be interesting to see some pictures of the carded stuff

Rich is right thought, no love for repro or much love modern on here I am afraid

fair points...

not sure its a sugar coated ad. I think I would try a lot harder and put pics up if that was the case. Far from a complete ad, I wanted to let people know the randomness of my 'collection'.

I'm not even sure im that bothered by the weapons anyway. I never used them much as a child because I kept losing them or they didnt fit in the hands properly and I used blue tack all over the place, so they dont mean as much to me. Perhaps once I have the figures in place, I might look to add them in and become completist. eg Princess Leia has no cape..

The same way in that my IG-88's arm fell off, should I replace him or should I allow him to remain as it was part of my original collection? I'd have guilt pangs if I did..

Any help on trying to source some of the last 17 figures would be most helpful.. some of the prices are crazy, getting Yakface is really going to wind me up. I used to have one and I lost him in a house move as a kid, I remember even going back to the house as an anxious kid trying to find him.. I think he was the last figure I purchased before returning with random european POTF purchases in the late 90s.

Can I ask, are these vintage figures - and do you have any pictures ?

"ive got 157 carded potf, flashback, tri logo, potj, guerre etolies (italian), EU, etc"

If these are vintage and you are looking to sell then you will have no problems getting enough together for Yak Face, Last 17 figures and genuine weapons and have plenty of cash left over

There was a time in my collecting when I sold all my modern crap (I had a daughter on the way and it was taking up space). I used the money to by a single graded 12 back ben kenobi. Less space taken and way way cooler than all the modern I had got rid of.

Sell them individually for max return but be prepared o put the hours in. Or sell them as a lot. Just dont expect to set the world alight.

And remember, a single vintage MOC is way nicer then a room full of modern.

absolutely agree, but im not interested in the MIB / MOC stuff. I know this sounds crazier than a bantha steak BBQ, but I feel a little weird if something hasnt been opened and enjoyed. Thats just my personal thought.

But I have too much modern stuff sitting in the loft doing very little. Some stuff I bought, some stuff work colleagues dumped on me over the years.

Thus why i want that worn looking, not too bothered by the shine, weathered loose vintage collection. I was thinking of blogging about this adventure, especially the stuff i am getting rid of. Because some of it is ridiculous (a feckin Jabba Glob Episode 1!!!! that was a secret santa present FFS ).

I'll give you £5 for all your repro weapons and here's my address:-

The bin outside your house.

Good luck with your new collecting plan.
