Hello gents, hope we are all well.

I thought I would pop up with another non SW topic

I was admitted to hospital the other day with chronic chest pains and heart palpitations and sky high blood pressure,I honestly thought I was on the way out.

I had 5 ECG's and a heart scan done all in the space of about an hour, all my bloods came back as normal apart from a calcium deficiency and by the time I had finished my blood pressure was back down to normal levels?!

Since then the palpitations have come and gone, but the question I am asking is "where the **** did it come from"

Just wondering if any of you guys have had similar experiences?

BTW I am a landscaper so my job is far from stressful..

Cheers guys

Sorry to hear that Stefan. My heart is something i always worry about. Mainly due to my former life-style. I used to get ECGs done every few months. Problems with your heart can be bought on by several things. The biggest killers are stress and excessive "intake" of either fags, drugs, booze or food (especially if you're over-weight). Another big killer that people don't often think of is overly-exertive, irregular exercise. ie; doing ****-all for 2 months and then running round like a maniac playing football all of a sudden = high chance of death.
The other thing, which is less easy to control is hereditary. If there is history of heart problems on either of your parents side then it is wise to get regular check-ups and talk to your doctor about what you should and shouldn't be doing in terms of lowering the chances of the same thing happening to you.

Bloody hell, we're all falling apart here aren't we. Least you got to the right place and hopefully things will be OK

I have never been ill since I was a kid yet the past 2 months I have had all sorts of issues with my health and am currently really suffering from really bad gout pain

Maybe we're all just getting old !

Thanks guys

Ian - surely we are not that old yet?

Dom - thanks mate 8)

Pete - It is funny you mention the over exertion as I play football regular but had to miss 3 months of games because of work and I played football the day before I had this episode, the doctos all seem to think that it is a mixture of too much caffeine, anxiety and stress...if I knew what I was stressing about then I could understand?!

Cheers Stef

Bloody hell as said above, WTF is going on, everyone is having health issues all of a sudden, I do hope its just a blip for you & just down to the gap in your normal fitness routine Stefan, fingers are crossed that your back to full health in a short time m8.

Hey Man,

Good to hear back yo normal.

If drs happy after tests ok the old ticker should be fine. Just wandering if given all clear or if they mentioned SVT (supraventricular tachycardia)

If given all clear most likely anxiety/panic related. Can happen to anyone even without stress in their life. Panic attacks can occur without other anxiey symptoms and can mimic physical symptoms. Best to look at caffeine intake, exercise.

Sounds from your description they did all the tests necessary. Hopefully wont recur again but must have been hell of a scary.

Best wishes.

Steve

Good to see you are ok, I thought it was me who posted all that greasy food on FB but guess it was you :p

I never even knew that was lady gaga, shows how out of touch with things I am.

**** mate, not good! Glad to hear the docs gave you the ok.
Is it worth cutting down on the fags/booze/greasy food and trying to get a bit of regular exercise? You can even use the "exercise" thing as blackmail with the missus

scary stuff, I once got rushed in due to family history, scary as everything overtakes you what's going on and you have no control. Luckily in the end it turned out I have very bad stomach acid burning the lining which simulates very similar symptoms to pre-heart attack conditions, but after my Father having heart attacks they took no chances. I now just have to take some ant-acid tablets every few months and can only take paracetemol as any other painkiller aggrevates it.
Hope you feel better and get to the bottom of what it is soon.

Thank you very much guys,I am blown away by the comments :)

I feel my problems are very insignificant in comparison with the little girl who is very poorly, thoughts go out to them all.

Weasel - I dont drink or smoke and I rarely eat greasy **** (maybe one fry up a week) but I suppose I could be described as being overweight certainly for my height so perhaps that is it??

****ing missus would be having none of that as an excuse mate, once a week is as much as I can hope to expect

I have a benign condition with ectopic beats, that causes missed beats and then an extra beat, it caues me stress and ive had all the usual 24hr ecg, echocardiogram ect ect, they picked it up but its classed as benign.

Caffine, alcohol, stress, and anxiety all cause issues with the the heart and chest wall, most are nothing to be concerned about.

Andy - does it skip beats often or sporadically??

I was having missed beats every 8 seconds or so the day I went into hospital, then a bit later in the day my pulse rate shot through the roof for all of about 20 seconds and that has not happened since, still getting skipped beats but not the opposite way round..also my vision has been affected by this whole thing, sound similar?

On a seperate note are you still interested in Gi joes?

Those that know me on here will tell you that I am ****ing hopeless at getting pics up etc...
