Has anyone ever taken the arms off of a figure and put them on another to make one perfect figure? Do you think its right to do it ? if you have done it how did you manage it ?
The reason i ask is im finding it very hard to get a white bespin guard where the whole thing is nice ,they either have good hands and the gold has gone or vice versa so i have found one with very good gold and mine is almost perfect except the gold isn't as good so thought i could do a bit of a frankenstein

You can boil and pop and get the arms out, but how are you going to get them in again. You can't split the torso's as it's sonic welded....

And then you have the case the could have loose arms like james said.
I would not start at it.

This is a tricky one. It is frowned upon by most collectors i'd say because it just seems to take away from the authenticity of a figure. I think most collectors want the figures as they were produced.
Having said this, we never question where a figure's weapons and accessories have come from and i'd say most of the time we assume they're probably not the exact original ones the figure came with.
If i had 2 Luke Jedis- 1 with a perfect figure but a torn, rtuined cape and another with a perfect cape but beater quality, i would think twice about matching the cape with the mint figure and vice-versa. I'm not sure that's much different to swapping his head or leg.
I must say i really can't find good enough reason to care about this. For one it doesn't seem worth the effort to do it on any large scale and 2, so long as everything's vintage and original then who gives a toss?
I probably wouldn't do it just because i don't see why i'd have a figure with say, a chewed up leg and an identical figure with one perfect leg and the rest of it "beater" quality. I buy most of my figures in the condition i require and that's that.

As stated you can boil the figures. After around 5 minutes with most figures you can work the arms out of the torso and has they are still flexible, insert them into another torso. I would practice with figures you do not care about, just get a feel for it. As far as it being not 100% genuine.....all I can say is it is far more genuine than a recast white stormtrooper.

Sounds like it might be more hassel than its worth ,i was only thinking about it as im finding it hard to get a very good imperial guard (white) .Funny how the black one tends to come up quite often in excellent condition but not the white one ?i would of thought they would of been made the same ?

like everyone eles has said you can boil them to get the arms out and in but if you leave them in the boiling water to long they discolour dark figures go milky i have tried it
