Hi
I got a message from Brian Stillman who is apparently the producer of Plastic Galaxy. It's something about some childhood photo I posted on RS. Basically he wants to pass on my details to his client presumably so they can have my permission for them to use my photos. It also says they will pay -
"Hi. I'm writing because you posted some childhood photos on RS. I'm not sure we've met (online or otherwise), but my name's Brian Stillman and I'm the director of the documentary Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys. I'm also a toy collector and member of the SW collecting community.
I'm currently working with a large, national ad agency called Deutsch, Inc., and they're looking to license items like your photos for use in an advertisement. Yes, they would pay for it!
Unfortunately, due to non-disclosure agreements, I can't discuss the project in more specific terms, and I can't say who their client is. You'll just have to trust me that the ad sounds really neat, and it's something that celebrates Star Wars with just as much enthusiasm as we all do.
I'd like permission to pass on your contact information -- email, phone number, and real name -- so that they can contact you. They'll be able to give you more details about the project and the client, and discuss things like licensing rates and other logistical issues.
Again, I know this sounds completely random, but I can promise you, speaking as not only the director of Plastic Galaxy but also a member of the Star Wars community, it's 100% legit and definitely worth hearing what they've got to say.
If this sounds interesting to you, please EMAIL ME at ... Include the subject line "STAR WARS AD" so I don't accidentally miss it. Include your NAME & RS HANDLE, PHONE, and EMAIL ADDRESS. Again, please don't use PM. You can also email me with any questions you might have (though, again, I might have to be somewhat circumspect in how I answer you due to the NDA).
Thanks a lot for your time. I hope to hear from you.
Cheers,
-Brian ..."
What do you think? I don't really see what harm it could do. I mean I don't mind someone using my photo, which can only be the profile photo I use. Can anything go wrong with this though? :?
