Here's to a new year, let us look forward and all to enjoy,
Patience, tolerance, good will and understanding these attributes we can all employ,
We get the "jab" and say to c19 good riddance,
And learn from what has happened, maybe take the chance,
To live our lives, maybe, with a different view,
On how things can come from out of the blue,
To make us take a moment, take stock, see what life is about,
It's Not the value of "things" we should shout about,
Look at who we are and what we can do,
That makes a difference to others, to me, to you,
We can all do things that can redress,
The issues we face, and lives in a mess,
A kind deed, a nice word here and there,
Can make all the difference and show we care,
I'm not religious, I'm no saint, no "Mr look at me"
I'm joe bloggs, Mr average, that's me you see,
But I know there are those that go the extra mile, take the stress,
For one, look at the fantastic NHS,
Unselfish, they support, they are there when we are most in need,
The good of human nature, they example and feed,
We should all take a leaf from that Seminole book,
At our lives take a moment and take a look,
What can we do, to make a difference, to help, no matter how small,
The actions we take can break down a wall,
Of indifference, of suffering, that others may face,
We all have a point to us a position in life, a place,
So an act of kindness, a thought for another, be it large or small,
Will make us as one stand straight and tall,
Let's see what YOU can do this new year,
To address another's misery, another's stress and fear,
We are only here once, for a blink in time,
What we do is a choice of yours and mine
I'll get my coat now! I just think the last year has been a time for us all to take stock and realise that there are things we cannot expect, or legislate for, but we can learn from disaster and come out the other side a better person
Let's hope 2021 is a wonderful year full of hope and happiness for all
