Just read about what the blaster went for in the paper today.

The price on that R2 though!

Doesn't surprise me though tbh, one of the actual R2's used in the original trilogy??, if I was a multi, multi millionaire i'd have no hesitation in bidding that much for it, for me personally that would be the best prop I could ever own and would be a dream come true, the Falcon comes first for me of course but there isn't a full size prop you can own anyway.

I wouldn't mind bidding on Natalie Portman though, I think that might be screen used and complete.... :p

Hero prop = The actual prop used in scenes in the film, usually the best, most detailed version used for close-ups etc.

thanks for the info :D

Are you sure that there is not a full size falcon ? did they not make one for the old movies and the new ones ? :?

Well when I refer to wanting a Falcon i'd only want one from the original trilogy, but for ANH I think they only made half a Falcon and painted the other half in with matte paintings, and whatever was left over after filming got destroyed ( I think ), and any other Falcon props made for the following 2 films were also dismantled and mostly destroyed. But don't quote me on that I could be wrong. :)

My wife read the news and started asking very pointed questions... I had no idea what she was going on about or why she thought I'd somehow spend 55k?!!? I was freaking out thinking our bank account had been hacked and we were suddenly massively in debt! Laughing, she then passed me the iPad with the article!

You should have played it out for a little while and messed with her and said... "oh yeah I bought one of those as well last week, don't worry though it wasn't that much it was only 50k, I had to remortgage to pay for it but we should get our money back in about 10 years"

Would be awesome to own, you'd never be able to sell it though.

Yes hopefully some knowledgeable members can chip in on what's happened to the original filming models.

I guess it would be hard to find a buyer, maybe a museum

As far as I'm aware the original falcon was nothing more than a film set built by carpenters and set builders. Made of timber, pretty shoddy. The parts to be filmed would have been painted and decorated, the other side would have just looked like a stud wall. And as with any film set once shooting was over it would have been dismantled and prob re-used for another production or thrown away. No doubt there was once skips sitting outside Elstree or Pinewood in 76'/77' with bits of Millennium Falcon in it!

Ahhh I remember reading that now about carpenters building it, imagine being one of those guys who had no film production experience looking back on that years later thinking "I built the original Falcon once then broke it all down and just binned it"...
