My neighbour came to our door this morning - "I think there is a dead cat in our garden" asking if ours was missing?

I went to look and well there was something there but I couldn't possibly tell if it was our cat.

There was no fur no eyes etc. Me and my neghibour cleaned up the carcus and buried it. What a horrible experience! I feel sick.

I think it's our Charlie, (that' where I got my username Chaz) he's no where to be seen :( I think Foxes are the culprit.

Charlie is a big Cat - Top Cat in the neighbourhood fights off other cats with ease. Can't understand how this could have happened???

Hope he returns but I doubt it .... Now I need to tell the kids

Mate that's terrible news, hope against hope that it's not your cat.

Horrible to lose a pet, and nightmare telling the kids.

Really sorry to hear the news mate

Sorry to hear that mate. I saw a dead cat in the road a few days ago, also made me feel sick. I felt so sorry for the owner who was probably oblivious to it.

Sorry to hear this man, really am. Possibly the poor little guy has been lying there for a while. It doesn't take long for things to decompose whilst open to the elements. :(

Thanks for the kind words guys

Update:

Charlie returned about an hour ago!! Waltzed in without a care in the world!

So it wasn't him after all - a relief ! but now I'm thinking who's cat is it?

There are a few cats in the area we know by name and know the owners. Will have to chap a few doors later I think ...

Your right Grant it doesn't . It wasn't there last night - but the poor thing was smelling bad

Get in :!:

Great news bud...the wanderer returns. :D

Crazy I was sure it was him.

Kids are please (they are off school up here now)

I'm a sensitive sort of chap so this thread has helped get a few things off my chest - a really horrible find

Had you told the kids before he returned?

Would have been a scene from a comedy show if you had.

Glad you got him back, just bad for who every cat it is and them being totally unaware

This terrible. So glad to hear its not your cat Andy. It must be awful for the owner.

I have cat who is 17 next month. Told myself to start to get ready for the worst. Its gonna be real tough tho

Yep losing a pet is horrible, especially long term pals who've been with you for years. They become part of the family, and best pals.

Hey Andy nothing wrong with getting things off your chest, I find this forum great for that, where everyone can just be themselves (or occasionally pretend they are someone else...rare thankfully :!: ).

Great news that the cats back

Thanks guys

We hadn't told the kids yet - so phew on that one also !!

Liam - our other cat is 17 also and yep you certainly miss them when the are not around

Glad it wasn't your cat Fella, hope you get to the bottom of it tho. Someone some where is missing a pet.

I went out in to our back garden once and there was a foot long dead rat that was riddled with maggots, I was heaving my guts up. It's face was pretty much gone and its stomach was bloated white about to pop, it was rank.

I got a shovel under it and flung it over the fence as hard as I could (don't worry there was only waste land behind).

I was so worried that it was going to slide off and land on me!

I sympathise buddy - that sounds gross. I haven't eaten much today - certainly not meat. Can't stomach it - all those blue bottles yuk!!

Glad Charlie is and sound

Not nice finding a dead animals of any kind though. I see lots of road kill where I live - Badgers, deer, foxes, pheasants, rabbits etc almost on a daily basis, but when it's in your garden it's altogether more shocking.

Found a dead fox in our garden once when we were students, they're big bastard animals when lying dead on your patio.

The landlord came round and lugged it over the back wall, nice!

This going to sound weird, but I had an adult male deer, die on my car park at work last year. The council refused to move it because it was on our land. I had to try an bury it in the ditch between the carpar and the road. The size a ****in horse, in my car park.........................crazy.

Glad to catch this story with a happy ending and the safe return of Charlie :)

Not really great with coming across dead animals. See so many on the roads these days and particularly badgers, probably trying to escape from the farmers.
