I would like to get my POTF stuff graded, or at least some of it.

1. Is it a mission to get it done?
2. Is it really expensive?
3. It is worth it and will it add value to my collection?

Sorry to be such a ****ing nerd, but I'm keen to make my collection worthwhile.

ps. any yaks for sale?

Hello.

Its not a mission to have items graded.
Its not to expensive either.
I dont know if grading adds value to items. It sometimes makes it easier to sell items on if people know its been graded because then they have a rough idea what the items condition is.
I like to use AFA to authenticate items and make sure they are in their purist form and not touched up with ink or resealed etc.

Grant.

Answers:

1. Yes if its the first time, but you get used to it.
2. Its costly in numbers, but if you want to preserve your collection its worth it.
3. Yes if its the AFA

No Yaks..yet :)

Been UK based sending items to the AFA can work out costly. I wouldnt bother using the UKG as it wont help the items if you decide to sell where AFA may add some addtional value depending on the grades.

AFA 85 and above can add a fair bit of value
AFA 80 Adds some value
AFA75 or below can decrease value

Ultimately though do you really need to spend hundreds even thousands (depending how many items you have) to get somebody else's opinion or do you feel confident enough in your own knowledge / experience to judge the condition of your items?

If your displaying MOC's you can use Oscar or the UKG for acrylic cases.

As Grant said the AFA is good for authentication but for me there really are only a few vintage items were authentication is needed.

Postage for acrylic cases is nice and cheap as well  But depending on how many you need, take pictures of cases to your local plastics manufacturer and they may be able to make you a batch.

For some of harder to find/more expensive POTF it's probably worth getting them graded. Assuming they are in good nick and will grade 80+ otherwise your probably as well with a few slidding bottom cases.

It's these ones? Star cases are the best value for money IMO. But I collect loose stuff so don't listen to me :)

I know bog all about the value of loose figures and or loose graded figures, so I'll leave them for someone else.
But the MOC's you have aren't really worth grading from the point of view of increasing their value. They will be procted better, but the sliding bottom cases will do just as well.
