Morning All,

I had a great start to the week with my signed Lando Skiff MOC finally arriving from the US before 8am :)

Having opened it, I am pleased. The Bubble is sadly yellow, but otherwise it's a nice nice thing to have signed by Billy Dee Williams !

Just interested in whether I should now get this boy graded or not, so as to protect it a little more. My concern is that it would be marked down as the signature might well be seen as card damage, and it is already not perfect so unlikely to score really high. Appreciate the views

Cheers

Lee

Several good reasons not to grade it - firstly it will get max 70 because of the signature, and generally graded MOCs below 80 are worth less than ungraded ones. Secondly it's a very cheap MOC, £30-40, so grading will not add significant value. And finally AFA don't validate autographs anyway, so it could still be a fake autograph when graded (not saying it is, but being graded won't authenticate the signature.)

Agree with Edd above. Also I don't think grading will protect it more. You could just buy an acriclic case from the chaps on here to keep it safe.

Brilliant, I'd love that in my collection, as others have said I wouldn't bother getting it graded, no point just get an acrylic case off here to protect it.

Yeh I wouldn't bother my friend. As said u have limited the grade due to the signature and as it isn't in great condition any ways grading it is just going to highlight its flaws :!:
Just a thought but what I did with my carded Lando was to put it in a signed acrylic case so it displays signed but the MOC is pen free

Putting it in a signed acrylic case won't help unless I get Billy Dee around for a pint to re sign it :)

I'll get a decent acrylic case and go from there. I am so chuffed I have it. The seller also sent me a loose Leia Bespin & a loose Fett, both in good nick. On current value that is £25/35 in loose value free of charge !

Just love the Lando Skiff, reminds me of my Dad buying it for me and being young...if only life lasted for ever :)

That's brilliant, the memories of childhood is what's it's all about for some of us

Just case it with one of Iain's cases. It'll cost much less and protect it exactly the same as an AFA one would.

I have a couple of concerns with the signature. I got my MOC Lando signed in person by Billy Dee Williams, so I know it's authentic. His personal name looks pretty close, but the way he does Lando has a couple of differences. The "L", for example, and the way he wrote the "d". Might be just handwriting variance, but these are things authenticators look for.

Cheers Ian

Interesting to compare. But I am as confident as possible that it's legit and it's certainly close enough to look like a hand writing variance as opposed to a clear faked, eg. The "Billy"

Also I was given some paper work with the MOC to support its authenticity so I am happy enough :) I did not buy it from an autograph dealer, but was from a business seller at least

i have been looking at other signed MOC on eBay a lot of POTF 2 cards available. Not a lot of value in some signatures ( I know the cards are relatively worthless ) for example you can get a signed Vader for less than £20 if you wait it out.

No worries. I don't want to alarm you, nor suggest it is faked. It's just something I noticed that was different, and wanted you to look to draw your own conclusions. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.

If I ever get anything signed by Billy Lee, I'm not taking the Mrs. Apparently he try's it on if you do.

I can honestly see no point in faking something like this. It reduces the market so much it probably does reduce the value. Seems a silly thing to fake and he's hardly thrifty giving out his autograph. It's one of those things I'd have no concerns about.

That Billy Dee Williams is fine. 100% Legit.

Trust me, ill let you know if I see a fake BDW :D

He does - he just pops out a smoke and a can of Colt 45 :p  Just think Lando in Robot Chicken...
