That Nurse looks a bit severe doesn't she! You wouldn't not take your mess if she was around.

Haha she is one of the best nurses I've ever met very funny and we have good banter. She's been there from the very beginning.

She used to be in the army so takes no ****

 you can tell. Reminds me of the old matrons that wards used to have. If we had them back again wards would be much better IMO.

Have you told her about your 3 3/4 inch secret yet?

Right,

Day -6 pre transplant, 27/11/13

Got woken up by the kids and said good bye :( as they went off to the childminders for the day. Had my head shaved and did the last few bits if packing.

Arrived at derriford at 12.45 I had to wait for a few hours until a bed was ready and to sort put my PICC line so had some lunch with my mum, dad and girlfriend. I had a brief conversation with a registrar and had to sign a consent form for the stem cell transplant.

I started the chemo at about 6.30pm today's drug was BCNU (mustard gas) It was a 2 hour infusion I had a few reactions ie stinging nose red face and my blood pressure dropped a bit, but these were managed with antihistamines. I felt really rough though so I went to sleep at 8.45pm.

I slept ok woke up a few times and got woken up to have obs done I have my own duvet which helps a lot lol.

The rooms nice got a 42inch samsung smart 3dtv and a dab radio, en suite and these snazzy doors that frost over at a touch of a button, pleasant place to be considering the circumstances.

Hi bud

Keep strong mate, sounds like you have a tight knit family pal, that's a massive bonus

SWFUK family are with you as well mate...you know that, all the best bud, I will post the little friend out on Sat

It puts thing in perspective mate. This has turned into a really interesting "diary post"

Good luck mate.

I can only echo what others have said mate... but I have to say your positive outlook can only be a good thing for you, its a great example to those of us who could be whinging about far less important setbacks. Thanks for keeping us updated :)

Day -5

28/11/13

Got woken up at about 7am for obs and then cleaned the room, had a cooked breakfast which was not the best thing I've ever tasted.

Daytime tv is aleady starting to grate lol. I started chemo at about 2pm it was etoposide which is a 2 hours and one siringe which is ara-c which is done twice a day.

Managed to get out of hospital for a bit after went for a walk and a coffee at a pub near the hospital, with my mum dad and girlfriend.

Nothing exciting happened in the evening just watched tv. 11.30pm got woken up to have my next syringe of chemo ara-c which was a nice wake up lol not.
