Archived Going to be parting out case fresh mailer - names please

Based on the difference between numbers of Kenner items and Palitoy items as a general rule, I would say most, If not all Palitoy items are is smaller numbers than their Kenner counterparts.

as Frank is setting on a bulk of them, I would not exactly say the market is flooded with them (the market is flooded with more Yak faces at the moment and those seem to sell for stupid money). Not sure on the price as there are not many Palitoy versions for sale or sold for comparison, so with that said the price is debateable, but when it comes to Palitoy anything is possible.

On a side note...I have seen people on here pay above the odds for more common stuff on here.

I have to say in the schemes of things £50 doesn't sound all that crazy given the ridiculous nature of vintage prices at the moment especially Palitoy stuff. If it this was art then 144 pieces would be considered a limited edition run, granted at the higher end of that description but limited none the less.

I'm sure if somebody offers the combined price @ £50 each of £7200, Frank will be more than happy to sell the Emperors as a lot and save it from being broken up :)

On a serious note (you said the thread was to gauge interest) IMO you need to reduce the price. You can't sell 144 of them without flooding the market, so they should be priced accordingly so that you still make a nice profit but they all sell. Otherwise it will be a repeat of the full case of Luke Jedi baggies that was found a few years back - sell a few for top money, and then be stuck with 120 of them that nobody wants at that price point, so he ended up selling a half-empty case.

Personally I'd happily pay £20 for one, but I'm not going to pay £50 for something when I know you have 143 more of them. What you say about them being rare before may well be true, but they're not rare any more thanks to this find :) If somebody found 144 Palitoy Boba Fetts tomorrow they wouldn't sell for 15 grand any more.

All IMO of course mate.

I agree with Ed. I'd go £25 for a mint NN Mailer. 8)

Edit. Not interested anymore but good luck Frank. Debate is healthy.

more than happy to pay the asking price for both. It basically comes down to whether you want to meet the asking price or not.

stating you'd be happy with paying £25 for one isn't really helping is it? I'm sure some lower quality ones might come up here or on eBay every now and then but these are being offered 'out of the box' and therefore should command a higher value.

The end of the day you should set a price you're happy with and the people who really want one will be happy to pay it. I've no idea as to how much the going rate for these things are but I think you've been around long enough to set a price that seems fair for what it is.

It seems some people are slightly worried that the price will drop at some point due to the amount of them but I feel this has been cleared up by you and this won't happen (unless some of the people who do buy them decide to sell them on at a later stage).

I remember sending off for the Emperor figure back in the day and wouldn't mind one for nostalgia's sake and wonder if there's a lower price for one with split tape as this wouldn't worry me? Perhaps a way to please more people?

Ian

Put me on your for one of each for now - may go for a split or sealed depending on your final prices. Wouldn't normally go for rotj mailers but as stated above the condition makes them - they look v nice :)

Thanks

Frank, apologies for the comments so far, my intention wasn't to de-rail your sales thread. I genuinely thought you were looking for feedback, and the fact only a few people showed interest prompted me to post as I thought you were trying to sell all of them at that price (the original post mentions you just want to keep the shipping case and a couple for yourself.)

Rob, personally I don't think it's unhelpful because as Frank says himself in the original post these have not really been offered for sale before so there is no 'market' value for them, therefore the price of £50 has effectively been plucked out of thin air (and I assume also calculated somehow from the total purchase price.) I do still think he'd have more interest if the price was lower, as myself and several others have since posted, so although perhaps not what Frank wanted to hear, I don't think it's unhelpful personally.

But again this wasn't intended as an attack so if you'd like me to lock/delete this thread so you can open a new one, just let me know.

Yeah apologies from me too, we've turned your thread into a bit of a debate.

Of course you're entitled to sell your mailers for any price you like, its not often someone comes along with cases of Palitoy stuff looking to share it out! :D

I suppose we're just playing devils advocate though and pointing out the potential flip of introducing such a great find to any group of collectors.

Peace and love et al!

Just read this thread and, without going into too much detail, the seller names his asking price and if you want 1 you buy it. If you don't then that's that! I also think Frank's price is a more than fair 1 and the debate on here seems to be only as he has larger numbers! This is ridiculous guys! Wether there is 1 or 1000 for sale, whatever happens value wise in the future, that is no concern to a seller, you either want something or you dont?

I totally agree with you on this although I do wonder if there's a different price for the split taped ones. It's also a shame that frunkstar hasn't written anything on here in the last day or so about the comments, maybe this has annoyed him but it's a shame as I also felt that the initial thread was started with a little bit of feeling out what people thought about the price.

No offence was ever intended as others have said, you're certainly a permanent fixture on this forum and I don't think anyone would be happy to think that they've upset you in anyway.

Ian

Strongly agree with both of the above, the price is the not excessive, even though I mistakenly sold one on here with a kenner leaflet for a tenner!!

I don't think its a lack of reply for that reason, below is cut from Frank's post on the first page, before everyone really started debating his set price:

"I'll be away till sunday/monday guys, so as said just pop your names on here & I will deal with it when I get back k"

Yeah come on Frank get back on here and sort dis **** out! My fiver for the pair is awaiting

Good job the owner of this site allows 'non-transactional remarks'

I think healthy debate is good and Frank is certainly more than capable of putting his thoughts across (at when he is online)- I think he answered the questions well and don't see any major drama on here - it's good to see healthy debate wothout people taking their 'toys' home with them

Rob, you pointing out that me saying I'd pony up £25 for one isn't very helpful isn't really that helpful either is it ?. Nuff said. Good luck with the sales Frank.

Frank is away for the weekend...so that is why he has not responded. As far as his price..he asked and got some feedback. He could have just put them up for sale at this price and left it. I have seen several sales threads were a seller was way overpriced in my opinion (which is not what I am inferring here with Frank). At the end of the day, it is what someone is willing to pay.

I don't see palitoy mailers come up to often and when they do- they are never as factory fresh as these.

I jumped at the chance and purchased them. Great addition to the collection.

I'm back now but beat after a full day & 300 miles driven, so will come on to answer any & all questions when I'm fresh tomorrow, tonight if i perk up but am knackered & just having a quick browse of the forum.

One thing I will point out is I have only ever seen 2 others come up for sale & by the same guy on ebay, one has already sold, the other is still listed (link below), I presume these were to two missing from the case I have,so look at his price & make up your own minds as to if mine are expensive -
