I collect because of my love for vintage Star Wars toys, so I don't plan to sell up no matter how high things go. The only way I'd consider selling is if one of my grail items becomes available or if I was going to loose my house. I plan to be in this hobby until I'm 6 feet under. :)

Interesting seeing the results of votes cast.

I voted 'Maybe' because there isn't a category for 'Consolidate'. For the last few years I have been selling/trading off a very bulky collection in order to consolidate it (condense) it down to a more manageable volume primarily. However, nowadays, as many have mentioned, it's difficult to find pieces of interest but when you do afford the 'cash' to buy. Trading is my favoured way forward and no I won't trade a MOC Fett for your loose skirtless Klaatu!

Cheers,
Christian

The only time I would consider selling is if my wife said it's me or the Star Wars collection. Then I would have to sell some off to pay for the deforce. :?

I find it difficult letting anything go that isn't part of my main collection or focus so basically anything that is vintage SW has an appeal and I am very fond of, although I don't tend to buy everything and anything there is at least a measured approach to my acquiring. I'm also a bit of a hoarder which doesn't help (runs in the family).

The only time I'd sell up is if a crisis arose and the funds were essential otherwise my house will continue to be full of vintage goodness and thankfully I've got a partner who doesn't frown upon my spending of money on old plastic toys :D (but that is probably a bad thing )

I'd never sell what little I've got, even if prices continue to skyrocket. I continue to collect vintage Star Wars items that are more affordable, but hold the same nostalgia to me as the figures do.
Hopefully the bubble will burst and prices will crash or level out, but who knows?

I'm pretty sure of bubbles started bursting, the prices on everything else vintage would go up. Moc collectors would search for something else vintage SW to fill their desire/need to collect. :)

I wont sell up but I have slowed right down, do a helluva lot of looking now both on the forum and ebay.
I collect both vintage and modern and with the way prices are just now it's much easier to fill gaps in my modern stuff. Was just getting into collecting MOC's but with new crazy prices (with the exception of some very decent blokes on here that are still offering forum prices) I've had to stop which is a real shame.

Saying that now that I am not buying as much I have had a bit of fun moving things around and changing displays in my room a few times, and looked at other items e.g. Marvel comics which for the price are pure vintage gold.

Couple of Master Replicas items I've been looking for but the prices the sellers expect now (not sure if the actually get it) are just bonkers compared to a few years ago.

Fingers crossed it all settles down soon - I'm just too tight to pay over the odds for anything, it would really take the shine off of any purchase regardless of how much I wanted it if I thought I'd bought it during a "spike" and a year later it was a third of the price.

Unless I needed the money as a lifeline to survive I would never sell some of my rarer Moc's as It has taken me years to acquire them and I doubt I would ever to able to afford them again or even find them for sale ever again.

It's been an interesting poll at least 30% are considering selling items on, should make for an interesting time of the sales page! As for me I just bought another moc so I guess deep down i am still hooked but man that Trafalgar n.g.s well that's pretty darned nice too!

This is a great topic - it buries into our very souls.

It would break my heart to sell my MOC collection. If I needed the money for something important, what would be the best route to go down. Vectis maybe?

Craig.
