Today. Another late present has been opened.

To my horror it is a classic Star Wars mug with 70’s vintage sweets inside. I would have already thrown it in the bin if my bin were not already full !

Got more bloody mugs this year then I can count.

The Art of The Last Jedi book is simply stunning! No one could ever fault it surely... even those not keen on the film have to appreciate how good a piece of publishing it is!

I got a Arnolfo di Cambio cibi double old fashioned tumbler from the mrs this year. Hand made, mouth blown Italian crystal glass, as used by rick dekard in blade runner. These things have been made like this since 1973.

It’s one of the best presents I have had. It looks great, has the fanboy connection and acts as a magnificent vessel for transporting scotch from the bottle to my mouth. Nice.

And it meant that the in laws got me a bottle of Benriach to drink out of it.

Don’t know what this added to the conversation really. I did get a Star Wars mug from my brother. I could also drink my scotch out of that I suppose. I won’t though.

Opposite scenario -
For my 40th my best mate insisted he wanted to push the boat out and get me something nice. Told him some vintage SW would be great and that's what my family were getting me. No matter how many times I told him, how many times I explained how chuffed I'd be, gave him loads of options but he always came back with "not buying SW shite"
So for my birthday I got a crystal decanter and bottle of malt. The whiskey got given away as I don't drink the stuff and decanter is in loft. He wasted a lot of money and opportunity to give me a present I'd keep but in his mind he gave me a "proper" gift.

I think the answer is to pretend I really hate the new films. In reality I think they're quite good fun but I'm not crazy about them. Me telling people that doesn't stop them thinking I want to turn my entire flat into a shrine to The Force Awakens etc.

So I'm thinking that next year I'll pretend that I'm an angry nutter on the subject. 'The Last Jedi raped my childhood'. 'Kathleen Kennedy is a cancer on society'. 'Having a lead female is political correctness gone mad '. 'Rian Johnson should be tarred and feathered '.

They'll think I'm a complete moron but at least I won't get more Star Wars lampshades and kitchen utensils. Jesus, I want to create the impression that an adult lives here.

I remain pissed. Mainly on the basis I told many people “No more Star Wars stuff”.

I was ignored.

Yesterday I went through my vintage display. I bagged EVERYTHING up and put it into store. At the moment only 6 MoCs remain on display.

This has enabled me to get all the modern shite in one crate and it’s going to charity or eBay. Pop Vinyls, DK reference books, Rouge One bollocks. All going.

Once that shite is out of my life I will put my vintage figures up again. Might be a few months. But I might even enjoy not looking at it all for a bit !
