General Euro 2012 Discussion Thread!

Probably right but you have to wonder if the goal was allowed would it have been the first of 2. England looked a bit tighter after they got away with it, if it had been allowed perhaps theyd have panicked. Well never know but it doesnt matter, I just hope they pull their knobs out and beat the Italians.

Ukraine really didn't have enough chances to justify that opinion. Also, the guy who put the cross in for the goal was off-side when he received it so actually, if the lines-man was doing his job, the goal shouldn't have been given on that basis. So either way you look at it England were in no danger. We beat a team who beat the Swedes who beat France and who had a huge him advantage behind them. Any team in football would have taken a scrape-through there.

Chances dont matter, England had a fair few and only scored 1. So on that basis Ukraine were more prolific than England. As for being offside yeah he was a nose forward so he was offside but it happens when its close like that, the ball being 12 inches behind the line is entirely diffrent though. :o
Anyway it hardly matters now bring on the Italians

For me, he should play the ox on the left, theo on the right, and rooney just behind carrol.
The ox lol, is that because hes built like 1 or has the face of 1?
I do think he could turn out to be a wizard in midfield though for the england team. As for Walcot he should be starting but the guy is hit and miss. You never know which version will turn up on the day but hes getting better, in a year or 2 he'll be 1 of the best in europe

No it's because his name is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain

I'd actually expect him to go the other way. Stick with solid players who wont give it away. If I was Ashley Young, I'd be worried! He's been giving it away every other time he gets it so far.

Agreed on Walcott though, he's either unplayable, or he looks like he's never played.

Yeah i agree with that. Young has been piss poor. Milner's crossing has been worse than sunday league quality but he is more reliable on the ball. One of them has to go.

I agree on Milner. TBH he's pretty mediocre, BUT he works hard and will track back and this England team, playing the Hodgson way, that goes a long way. Only thing is, Gerrard, Parker, Milner and A N Other (not Young, Walcott) is seriously lacking in attacking options. Gerrard doesn't have the legs to burst forward so you're expecting your forwards to do it all on their own, or to score from set plays.

Yeah that's why i said one of them has to go. I'm happy to keep Milner if we move him to the left and bring in Walcott or bring in Walcott and leave Young on the left. Thing is we are the kind of team that thrives on decent crosses into the box and Milner's crossing has been some of the worst i've ever seen from any person playing football including drunk kick-abouts over the park. Really shameful. So for that i'd drop him. I believe he's stopped us from winning games by more goals.

**** me Portugal were fantastic.
The finishing needs work but that was the best attacking football Ive seen in this compition

Yeh **** it, not sure what was worse, the commentary or losing in penalties!

Beer time!

Unfortunately, thats as good as England are. They deserved to get knocked out tonight.
Young was a ****ing disgrace. I never understand teams that let defenders take pens before strikers

Anyone know who did the acoustic version of linkin parks' "in the end", shown just before the end of the program?

Much more entertaining that the football

italy were the best team on the night! and got what they deserved! england like shearer and dixon say are average and will continue to be so untill we have more enthuiastic and talented players come through

Easy, its still too soon to hear this sort of stuff, compared to recent past performances well done...

I was pleased with England throughout this competition compared to what they put in the World Cup, it does show promise.

The game was slipping away from the start of the second half and it was all over when Welbeck got taken off while Young and Rooney stayed on the pitch.

England done better than I expected at the start of the tournament but not as well as I would have liked.

Lets see what our man Roy can do getting us to the World Cup.
