I have been collecting 85 grade plus star wars for around a year now and have a nice collection.
I have the money to do it and I cannot find any of the toys I collect normally, I collect action force international heroes but they are IMPOSSIBLE to find, thus leading me to collect my other favourite childhood toys.
What is the point in collecting something you cannot find, it gets very boring, at least with star wars you can actually get them.
so anyway I recently I thought what is my objective goal from collecting palitoy star wars?
The answer-To get every single figure, on every cardback from star wars to tri logo. Is this possible?
I had no doubt until I spoke to Gary on here who is a member on here, he told me for around 50 figures a cardback has never even been seen let alone a carded figure.
This is understandable as the new figures that went to print would have been mass produced and the older figures on previous cardbacks mixed in with the new figures to sell them off. Hardly any if any would have been produced of certain figures.
Can anybody shed some light and give me advice on my quest before I embark?
I am after any 85 grade plus palitoys so anybody who has any pls email [email protected]. Got loads of Jedi carded stuff so after mainly star wars and empire stuff if poss, but will still look to buy jedi and tri logo.
What are your thoughts on this then, is it possible to get a full set????

Well, you already have the opinion of some of the most knowledgeable Palitoy collectors, so I don't really know what good the results of a random poll would do you.

maybe so but interesting to see what a larger number of people think, poll good way to do it.

I don't quite see what you are hoping to achieve by this.

If more people vote for yes than no, or vice versa, is that really going to give you any useful information beyond what you've already been told in your other thread?

Incidentally if you read my post in that thread, I did ask you a question about action force. Be good to have an answer.

Dont listen to gary, he tells fibs. Its definately possible.

The first thing to do when considering collating a 'complete' collection of anything, is to forget about grades.

apart from the fact that getting hold of a lot of rare pieces will be made impossible, if you worry about only having excellent condition, there is also the fact that a lot of long time collectors just wont take you seriously when you even mention 'graded' pieces.

I commend you for considering such a task, but if were in your position, the only two people I would really listen to, would be Gary Smith, and Jim stevenson.
and don't expect a lot of the rarer pieces to ever make it onto ebay, or any of the collectors fairs. sales from one collector, to another, are still the best way to get hold of rare Palitoy pieces.

good luck, and please keep us updated on your progress.

Mr. Toblerone if you've been collecting since '86 you should have a decent collection.

You wouldn't mind posting a pic or 2 of your collection on these boards now would you,as a Palitoy MOC collector myself I'd sure like to see a few pieces of your collection.

Yes been thinking this myself and have acquired a few 80 grade figs recently, 85s are nice but fully understand that on the odd accasion I may have to consider taking whatever I can get my hands on.
I will keep you updated on progress and will start putting up pics of my collection. Got nearly 100 now graded at 85 grade plus and my collection is looking pretty cool at the min.
Latest addition is an 85 grade 12 back jawa.
The advice I have had on the forum so far has been great, thanks for all the info.

Hi mate my action force international heroes collection is the best in the country, not far off having pretty much everything, these are MEGA hard to get hold of and it is infuriating. It gets discouraging trying to collect things you cant collect as there is not any.
I have not had anything for 3-4 months now.
I got lucky though a few months back by finding a shop who had a load of them still in the window and in their storeroom. It was a newsagent that chose to try and sell a few toys and couldn't be bothered because it didn't work, and just left them in the window and in the storeroom never to bother with them. Because it was predominantly a newsagent, nobody ever must have enquired about them.
This gave me some hope and reckon there will be loads out there to be uncovered.
These are my main passion, and only really started collecting star wars as hasbro action force are just so hard to find.
At least with Palitoy star wars you can find them, there are other people to trade with, forums, so there is a chance of getting a decent collection quick.
These figures can go for big money, as much as star wars. I paid 550 for destro and that would not even achieve an 85 grade. Paid 500 for crimson twins they did get an 85 grade though.
Again I only collect UK stuff, this is why it is much harder to get.
If I was collecting American would have no problem, both toy lines are much easier to find on American cards than UK.

Are those prices the highest action force stuff goes for?

They really don't compare to what many palitoys go for.

no thats the dearest ones I have had my hands on. American GI Joe figures 85 grade plus like firefly and storm shadow go for $5000 plus, so if you got a mint UK one then they are much rarer so would go for more.
I would certainly pay thousnads for my most wanted figures but they never come up.

Gary - My most expensive joe to date is £975 for a storm shadow peach fc afa 90 cb,that figure would easily rise if the figure was a action force hasbro figure,my guess would be £1300 ish?

Still does not really compare with the sw palitoys though in terms of maximum value.

Andi -send me a pm when you get 5 mate, cheers.

Cheers stef 8)

Well not all star wars palitoys are that expensive.

Putting together the 20 ESB 30 back characters would be far more expensive. (far less achievable)

Only LHH, Luke, chewie, Ben, leia and Han have gone for more than 1k.

Most go for around 500 or less.

Gary -The average cost of a hasbro action force figure moc in c8+ condition would be roughly £150,to get 85 graded ones roughly £350 at a very rough estimate, cheaper figures such as airtight can be picked up for £20 as he is a VERY common figure, sadly the rest are not easy to come by at all and much like yourself with the palitoy sw I have not ever seen a couple of the figures moc, they do exist as the filecards have been seen and I have them myself but my guess is hasbro wanted to get the change over to gi joe done quickly therefore minimising the af prints.

I would hate to even attempt to put a pali collection together,I would be happy with just 1 example of any figure on any film back.

Cheers 8)

I will be happy if i ever complete the first 20

some action force I would pay several thousand pounds for if I could get my hands on them which you cannot, its hard to price the rarer ones as you will just not find them.
Personally would pay anything upto 5 grand for a moc snow serpent, never been seen.
