This is truely the most sought after holy grail under all vintage Star Wars items: The Early Bird Set! This one is freshly graded by UK Graders and reached an overall grade of 80%. What makes this set double special, other than that it contains the rare DT Luke, is the fact that he is bagged in a SW-D baggie which is absolutely unique! But from the beginning:

I bought this set last year here in Germany from a vintage Comic collector who bought it on a toy fair in the USA together with a comic lot from the original owner. In fact that he was not that Star Wars specialist or collector he decided to resell the set. When I first saw the set I was not sure about the DT Luke as I never saw or heard about a SW-D bagged DT Luke. I started a thread on the Rebelscum forum but got no clearly information. So I decided to take the risk of getting bumped with the set and bought it. My first step was sending the Luke to AFA for authentication. I was very nervous while I waited for an answer, but finally I got him back some weeks later with a straight AFA 80 and a COA signed by Tom Derby!

In this moment it was clear and the AFA population report also showed it: up to now this is the only known graded example of a bagged SW-D Double Telescoping Luke worldwide !!!

So what else should I say? As it was too risky and expensive (customs, insurance etc.) for me to send the whole set over the Atlantic to AFA, I decided to send it instead to England to the UK Graders for grading. And finally here it is! They opened the AFA case of Luke and placed him together with his buddies:) I´ve added a pic of the original AFA case with Serial No. 14930358 which is included in this sale along with the COA from Collectible Investment Brokerage. I´ve additionally added a pic of Luke before he was graded where you can see the DT lightsaber and the three line COO.

The set is absolutely stunning and in very nice original condition. Baggies of the other figures are: Leia in factory tape sealed SW-A, Chewie in factory heat sealed SW-B and R2 in factory heat sealed SW-D. Pegs are also heat sealed. Catalog and coupon are complete. The coupon does have some tape residue on the upper backside. The box shows the address of the original owner. There are missing the two little inner flaps of the box where it is open. Other side of the box is tape sealed. Tray is in fantastic condition. Only a very small hairline crack in the lower left corner of the Luke compartment.

Altogether a vintage piece of history as scarce as it can be! This set is unique in the world and it´s a once in a lifetime opportunity to own it! I´ve sold my entire MOC/MISB collection some weeks before and this is the last piece which is left. As I have no reference value I´ll set the price to 10.000€ OBO!

European Union bidders are welcome !!! Free shipping with insurance !!! No shipping outside the EU !!!

This is a private sale. Item is sold "as-is". No warranty, guarantee or money back after purchase. Payment via PayPal gift or IBAN/BIC bank wire transfer in EURO only !!! Let me know if you need more pics. You can contact me directly at: [email protected]

Well I'm going to run and duck for cover before anyone else reads this…..flame on! :?

What you saying, Palifan? Can't think of a single person here who'd not jump at the chance to send 10k Euros to a complete stranger without recourse! And anyway, I have no concerns over this advert. After all, if the seller was dodgy then there's no way on earth they'd be asking 10k for an EB set; the idea of a scam is to draw people in with a deal that's too good to be true! Where's Todd when you need him? :D

Seriously, though, wittmann, that is a stunning set and one I would love to own but you have taken pricing insanity to a whole new level. Think you'd get more luck on the likes of Facebook.....

Thanks guys for the comments but the asking price is just a point of view. If anybody saw a comparable set in the last years then let me know. The last set I watched on Ebay went for $5800 and had only an AFA75 with a "normal" DT Luke in SW-A baggie. Thats why I said OBO. And by the way the set is also on Ebay for sale where you can drop an offer. @scuffy: there you can also find my reliability!

Best of luck with your sale Dan - your EB set is lovely and it's especially nice to see a verified SW-D DT Luke - very few and far between. I think that the OBO price is a bit too high to receive genuine offers but I would certainly expect this to fetch around €6000 in an open market auction.

Good luck.
regards,
Christian

Thanks Christian for your encouragement!
All I wanted to state with the price is the uniqueness of the set, thats all!
Again, the offering price is quite negotiable, thanks :)

But how would you know which figures were in a sealed on, or if it were a Dt or not

I think Christians estimate is attainable, very very rare to see a DT luke in this baggie, hell look at the transition SW-c one on the bay right now on its own.

TBH I'd be happy with any EB set no matter which figure/baggies or condition, but they are way out of my league sadly

With the DT Luke added shouldn't this set have the earlier SW catalog with the portraits on the back?

(I also think the asking price is 'ambitious' but good seller who I have bought from before, and also honourable to mention that the mailer box is missing internal flaps as being cased this is something the buyer would not have known).

Thanks for pointing the thing out with the internal flaps. But I' ve already stated that they are missing in my offering text, but no offence :)
