That's all good, I just don't understand the valuation.

These went for £100 on Thursday 25th June 2015 10:30am at Vectis.

I think they went £20 cheaper than its value. As you can see there are 6 sets of the erasers, sealed box of the Record erasers (36 in box) plus the box of pencil toppers.

Can you see what I mean?

Grant its quite simple and ive said it already. I add in the free postage, any fees and the fact people like to haggle and they end up at £25. Which is what I've sold about 18 sets at. People buy them. I dont see why I need to drop the price. Not everyone finds the bargains you do all the time.

ill just clarify the listing price of that proof too

POTF TIE FIGHTER PILOT 92 BACK 85 18841385 $2,325

yes i got it a bit cheaper,, not as cheap as you and your friends were getting stuff, but i also paid customs duty and VAT (yes i chose to for safety of the item) now its a unique piece, and yes i made money

but im honest and open about it, and i sold it.

now the argument that has stemmed here is nothing to do with me.

You are right Andy, this has nothing to do with you. But I get sick of the double standards around here. Some people can charge what they want and I charge a few quid extra for some ****ing erasers and I get called out for it.

Since you brought Marc into the conversation I have no idea what prices he got his proofs for. So when you say you and your mates got 70% off.... I didn't buy anything directly from Seth and I don't believe I bought anything from Marc. I think the only proof I bought from Seth's list was through Broc because I got sick of all the bollocks with Seth's list.

And I did see an original list of Seth's prices and I know that EVERYONE was making money including yourself and it wasn't all disclosed. And despite what you think I don't have a problem with you charging what you want or making a profit however large. I just have a problem with the double standards around here that mean that one person can get away with it and another can't.... And another gets grief for a few extra quid on some erasers. I appreciate that doesn't give me the right to call you out on what you are selling. But enough is enough with this price policing and people blaming others for over charging etc because everyone's at it.

Is it not just up to the buyer? If they pay the price then surely it's not overcharging because if they were not happy then surely they wouldn't buy it!

Thought this was a for sale thread.
I am pretty sure people can make up their own minds. If you think something is over priced don't buy it .Isnt the valuation thread the place for people to offer opinions on value?
If someone offers items for sale with a price that's their choice.(nobody is forcing anyone to buy)
Offering unwanted opinions only causes problems like this. And that's my opinion

Just out of interest Grant how much was the shipping on each of those 72 £3 erasers that you bought over the 2 years it took you to put those boxes together? I would imagine the set I sold you worked out cheaper with the free shipping and spare erasers thrown in for free!

I bought my first set on Rebelscum for €40 about 4 years ago and bought individual ones from Todd Chamberlain for about £5 each plus shipping. You know not everyone has the time to spend hours on eBay and Vectis every day looking for things a few quid cheaper and spend 2 years filling a box of rubbers.

Your right. Buying them 1 or 2 at a time would work out more expensive than buying as a set.

So we arrive back at my original question.

Why is your set more expensive than buying them individually?

If you believe that the sets you are selling are worth this much.

How much would you value a full box including the display box.

amd you don't need all day being a detective on the internet. Just type "Star Wars Eraser"- they are for sale all the time. **** me- they were given out as gifts at last years Secret Santa.

and speaking of Todd Chamberlain:

Your prices are way off by all examples.

For those who criticize me highlighting the disrespectful and staggering price rises that we have seen recently. These prices are warping market value and while you maybe able to get away with that on FB, I feel it should be questioned on here.

There seems to be a deliberate drive by some to not just capitalise on the rebirth of Star Wars, but actually exploit buyers.

Your right- its the buyers choice. But if your going to exploit buyers with ridiculous price increases. Don't do it front of me, I will call you out. And if I do it- PLEASE CALL ME OUT. I promise to have the humility reinvestigate my valuations.

The eraser are worth £3 each, end of story. Times by 12= £36. Plus saving someones time to get a full set equals £50 is embarrassing.

Bram was selling a mates collection here a while ago with £175 Klattu MOC. Its disrespectful to the collectors who know better and embarrassing.

Marc Walsh bought the same proofs from Bram that I did. In 2 years they has risen in value twice the amount they have SINCE 1983 !!!!

Warping the market with these ridiculous prices is effecting the hobby. If you are going to make outlandish prices back them or the sales thread will become a farce.

Its not personal. I like Marc and Bram as people. But I'm just saying what everyone else is saying. The difference is, Im saying it to you.

Give it a rest Grant with your self righteous selective price policing!

I sold 18 sets of these and you even bought one yourself!!!

I keep reminding you I take offers on these plus include shipping and fees. And sometimes throw in extras like I did for you.

So just give it a rest and stop harassing me!

By the time I pay shipping and fees and take discounted offers on these they end up selling for £25 a set. Which is £4 each. £1 more than you seem to think the price should be. Sounds pretty pathetic that you're making a big deal about that. Its nothing to do with people cashing in on the new Star Wars films, it's just someone making a few extra quid.

It's a complete joke you are wasting my time with this.

Grant I can't believe you are calling me out on prices. Your self righteousness is beyond a joke!

I sell lots of stuff and it doesn't usually sit around for long. I might start the prices high but I reduce them and usually accept significantly discounted offers. Most of my stuff sells quickly! Sometimes I make a few quid, sometimes I loose a few quid. I don't have time to sit on eBay all day looking for bargains or quibbling about a few quid here and there.

That's the gratitude I get for helping you to complete your boxes. I didn't force you to buy them!

More importantly I don't have to answer or explain myself to you.

**** off if you think you have the right to harass people just because you don't like their prices! Especially if you're going to be selective about who you criticise!!

Well, that was quite the read! Firstly, really sorry to the people that alerted me to this thread, haven't really had a chance to look into it till now. That said, I'm not sure there is much point in this continuing so I'm going to lock this whole thing down - Oli, if you still have remaining sets to sell, please could you start a new thread.

If anyone has a genuine gripe with another collector on SWF with regard to profit margins, asking prices or flipping etc etc - please either try to resolve your differences in private or alternatively, if you feel you have to bring this kind of thing to peoples attention for the good of the community then please do so in the Vintage chat section so that the issue can be discussed properly and not derail a sales thread.

Thanks all.
