Just in case anyone is thinking of listing anything ending in the next week or so.

Biggest load of bull **** ever !!

Hopefully it will also mean loads of bargains for those that are checking ebay several times a day !!

I understand they hold the 'majority card' with reguards to trading VSW but If people dont want to buy/sell on ebay then dont!

I never collected as such prior to ebay, but i'm sure there was a trade in vintage star wars via clubs, friends, little indi sci-fi stores, antique/retro stalls in big markets etc...

Theres allways cr*%$!list......

ebay is so big and powerful that they won't notice people not browsing, buying or selling for a week anyway.

I very rarely sell on Ebay so the change in listings fee's etc doesn't really affect me. BUT, I can see how people are pissed off about it. Not really a huge amount you can do unfortunately! :?

Just giving everyone a heads up in case they are listing this week and can't understand why there (may be) less interest.

Cheers Weasel just read the thread you PM'd me.
Hope my items finishing tonight aren't affected. :x :x
Don't think it will make much diference a few people not buying/selling owt for a week.
Got to say though just checked my ebay selling fees for last month and I'n not a big seller by any means but got charged Ã'£76.48. Robbing bastards!!!

Between trying to dress up lower listing fees when in fact the final value fees are going up so selling will cost you more, the fact that sellers right to leave negative or neutral feedback is being withdrawn, to have your money potentially witheld for up to 21 days by paypal, shite customer service and web pages overloaded with code and scripts (some of it poorly written) and having to endlessly log in - it does make you think..................

If nothing else, I have definetly been looking at alternatives to ebay and paypal this week. I've signed up at ebid.net and will be signing up at pppay.com and google checkout for online payment methods.

Although I thought selling on play.com was expensive at 10% commission and 50p per sale.

have these changes actually taken place on the ebay UK site??? or are they in the future??? I have sold some stuff two days ago and i can still leave negative feedback at the moment?? why can paypla hold up your money??

The fees come in on the 20th Feb for ebay UK

The feedback - I've only seen it mentioned for ebay.com - I haven't seen anything official from ebay UK - although the BBC ran an article on it.

The paypal is coming but I haven't seen the actual small print.

cheers andy, totally agree with your points, a proper kick in the teeth.

If people do stop selling as much, there will be far less available and will surely drive the price of items up???

It would be nice, but over here I don't think there is as much of a boycott as the US.

I've only had about 9 bids this year anyway and sold about 4 items so I'm not really using ebay much anyway - I still get my email search alerts but nothing much has turned up in thiose recently.

Think I'll list some stuff on ebid.net next week - free to list and 3% final value fee, taking only cheque or postal order - back to the old school - like ebay was in 2000 :(

maybe people will start going to the collectors fairs more because of this?

It is a pain, but to be honest, even if everyone selling star wars, old and new stopped for a week or so, would that make much impact when you consider how many other items are listed? think about the amount of cars or high end jewelry or clothes that get listed.
Maybe if some of the larger companies kicked up a fuss it would make them reconsider

To avoid the final value fees SW collectors will have to sell on forums like these and name a price for their items and then have to deal with all the haggling !! :x

I think your right!
Like Craig says, I think a lot more sellers will sell on forums like this. It may mean more haggling but if you have a high end item to sell it may well be worth it.

Brian's Toys and Wormhole Collectables have listed quite a bit today.
Wonder if they have got whiff of what they are trying to do at R.S. and are saying bollocks to you lot!!

I would like to see a lot more people listing there stuff on the forum before it went to ebay. Every 1 knows what they would be happy with
