First Figure as a kid? + memories of this MOC

Fantastic thread guys :D

I don't remember my first figure, but I think it was Darth Vader :? and I got him for a birthday or christmas :?

My first figure was C-3PO. I loved the robots in the film so both he and R2-D2 were the top priority. I remember C-3PO in the local toy shop C-3PO shining like a metallic talisman. I just had to have him. The figures were bought for my younger brother and myself to share but it suited us fine. Our entire Star Wars era cast of characters were the droids, Darth Vader and Chewbacca. Charles Pizer from The Black Hole doubled as Luke Skywalker. The landspeeder was bought for the two of us and it was played with until it disintegrated. Like all proper collectors we kept the box and that is still in almost mint condition!

It might have been mum who encouraged us to open the figures by cutting open the bubbles at the top like a trap door, probably because she thought that the figures were very expensive at £1.20 plus. I thought myself that packaging was almost as magical as the figure, with the large colour photograph on the front and the pictures of the rest of the figures in the back. I'm gutted that don't know what happened to the Star Wars cards as I cannot imagine that they were ever thrown away (perhaps they are in a long lost box at mum's somewhere) but I still have a quite a few of the ESB and ROTJ era ones left including Star Destroyer Commander and Darth Vader 45 Backs in pretty good shape. I bought Darth Vader twice because the original was played with to complete destruction! As the bad guy he suffered a lot of punishment.

Craig.

I had the rocket firing Boba Fett. It was true that it came out, I then sold it to a man for some magic beans. But I kept the spare one to sell knowing that it would be worth more than 50p in the year 2014

my brother gave me his chewbacca and yoda and then my parents took me out for my birthday, we went to my local toy shop in harrow, i can still remember it like yesterday a big rack of carded figures but mostly all the same ones over and over, i got leia boushh, chief chirpa, logray and vehicle maintenance mini rig.

then at christmas my parents bought me the jabba playset, rodimus prime and a nes :)

I don't know which was my first, but I do distinctly remember buying a Weequay in the Tesco's in Sevenoaks for another kids birthday and being slightly annoyed as I wanted a Weequay. I can't remember the kid's name or anything else about his birthday party but I do remember Weequay and the wall of Star Wars figures n Tescos.

I also remember buying a Jabba the Hutt playset from JH Lorimers will combined pocket and birthday monies, I think it was right at the end of the line as he was discounted. I remember being fascinated by the box pictures showing the 'dungeon' under his throne. The same shop at one point had bins and bins full of discounted trilogos as well.

If only I had the wisdom to pick them all up, I'd be rich, rich beyond the dreams of man.

The first figure a remember ripping off a card was Han Hoth and R2 sensor scope in short succession. My Nan bought them for me on a day out. I must of been around 3 so 1982.

Not the first Star Wars toys I owned though. A friend of my Nan's from work had a son who she thought had grown out if Star Wars. One evening she came round with her son with a big box of vintage.

I got the Falcon, Darth Vaders TIE, rebel troop transport and most of the first 21. Again I would of only been around 3 but I remember the look on that boy's face, he really did not want to give up those toys.

My prize possession though is my Boba Fett my grandad found in the street. He's is and will always been the coolest. He's had the crap kicked out him but love him. A great reminder of my long past grandad. He got me the AT-AT to.

Everything culminated on Xmas '83 though when I got the mother load. Every Jedi figure, Jabba and vehicles. My mum still talks about how many shops she had to go to to get me a "pig guard". I wonder how many millions of figures were ripped from cards that Xmas day.

My first figures were R2, 3-PO, and Luke X-Wing which were a gift from my aunt back in 79. I'll never forget the excitement that I felt while ripping them off the card. :)

I'm not sure which was my first, it may have been chewie, but I've still hit my original Ben. He's got no cloak, no saber and looks like he's spent 9 rounds in the ring with Mike Tyson, but he's worth more to me than anything I've spent money on 8)

My first figure was the Stormtrooper - would've been around the middle of 78 or whenever they first came out - slowly built up a collection from then on despite not seeing Star Wars until it was first broadcast on ITV in 1981! I remember thinking at the time, how long is it until Han Solo turns up! All my figures are sadly long gone but I still have my Rebel Transport and the breast plate from my AT-ST.
