Saw this on Facebook. Just something we should all be aware of. Personally I don't have my MOCs displayed, they're in fire and waterproof safe. That's also in case of a burglary.

I also bought a wi-fi CCTV camera that you can check footage via your mobile anywhere in the world. These are awesome as they not only detect movement and sound, you can set it to warn you if the temperature in your property goes above a certain number, ie a fire.

Sad news , I would be well pissed if I lost all my collection

Great build on the camera

Yeah don't worry about the negative reviews, they are all for connectivity issues. I would say you definitely need 4G. It does work ok when 4G drops to 3G, but I'd say expect grief with just 3G. Other thing I love about it is you can speak through it, so if you get notified of a burglar, you can scare the crap out of them with "Oi, I'm calling the police"

It says toy and comic collector in the article so chances are some vintage has just went up in smoke! :(

Fire is definitely a constant worry if you have a paper, cardboard and plastic based collection! :(

I've always wanted something like this. Will have to invest once I have my display room set up. 8)

Now that is something I would pay to see

House fires are something weve all probably been scared off at one point in time. It's always a worry at the back of the mind actually. Sometimes money just couldn't replace certain stuff. That's another worry...

To be honest if your house caught fire serious enough for the fire service to come out the chances are your collection will be ****ed anyway. In my experience of visiting victims of house fires occasionally over the years, putting out fires causes just as much damage as the fire itself. They make a right mess. On the plus side, for those with attic collections, they tend not to make that much mess up there - moderate fires or the firemen ;-)

I'm going to change my questions when I arrive at a fire -

Is there anyone inside?
Are you sure there isn't anyone inside?.................................

Are there any vintage Star Wars toys inside?
:D

Make sure you have working smoke detectors to protect those special presents under the tree :D

I'm just in the process of getting another safe. My current one has filled up with MOCs. It's fire and waterproof, but I I don't trust the waterproof aspect, so I plan to put them in watertight material/boxes inside the safes. Can't be too careful. My local car garage burnt down when the place next door caught fire and it spread. The owners of the other garage vanished abroad, so my garage owner has been bankrupted as a result.

The best advice going. But I would go further and suggest an evacuation plan - kids, wife, star wears collection. Not necessarily in that order ;-)
