Finally finished it

I have finally finished my xwing model. Never again. It was a nightmare to do but i am very happy with the results.
I assume the modern kits fit together a little better than this did.
It was the 1989 mpc kit. Has anyone else built a model xwing kit??

Was it THAT much work?

Yes it was. I had to paint each piece then wait for the paint to dry then glue it , then do another bit ect..... Then once it was complete i had to 'age' it by putting lots of coats of colour wash over it waiting for each coat to dry.
Oh yeah and then i dropped it twice and had to reglue loads of bits.

thats why you shouldnt drink and do models ,well some models are great to do when your drunk :wink:

Wow that brings back some memories, I made the exact same one in about 1997. In fact my bathroom at my parents house still has the grey paint in the sink :lol:

Not really sure. I have an unmade xwing from star wars dated 1978 , a smaller xwing dated 1983 and a large speeder bike dated 1983. I might make the speeder bike but i dont really want to open the sealed box.
