The day is here!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22447018

Now to the real burning question who will be his successor??

I would love it to be David Moyes or an ex player Ole Gunnar? Even Giggs?

Its a strange one that as I sure he said a couple of weeks ago that he wanted to go on for a couple more seasons - Jose has a big choice now doesn't he - Man U or Chelsea ?

If you could pick a team made of current Man U & Chelsea players - who would you pick ?

Id go -

Cech

Evra Vidic Ferdinand Cole

Mata Carrick Lampard Ramires

Hazard

Van Persie

It's because of Rooney. There's more than meets the eye here.

Why Rooney - SAF want to sell him or the Board would rather keep Rooney than SAF ?

He knows that his squad quite bare and has left on a high, made the right decision i think because even though he has worked miracles with those players, the summer would be an expensive one i think, and he has done his job 10x over.

Definitely. He turned a group of very average footballers into title winners this year. Bloody genius.

Evans, De Gea, Jones, Anderson, Smalling, Cleverly wouldn;t get in any other top 4 team. (you could add Giggs and Scholes to that list but that's possibly a bit unfair). Valencia, Young and Nani arguably could also struggle to walk into another top 4 team. Certainly would not get into Man City or Chelsea's midfield. No chance.

Could this be United's last title for a while or will they be fine?

I can't help feeling he will be back, he tried retiring before and it didn't last long...

If Mourinho comes back to Chelsea he won't be able to resist the challenge.

I hope it's Mourinho to be honest,I think it's the home hes been waiting for.Hopefully he brings Ronaldo too lol.
One way or the other next season should be quite interesting and as Manu supporter quite bloody scary!

I agree. Its gonna take a lot of getting used to especially for those such as myself who only know SAF as our manager

Daunting yes but exciting. Its a new era for the club.

Its gonna be interesting to see if all the players stay for instance Rooney had a serious fall out with Moyes just before he left Everton saying he forced him out the door?? :!:

To answer your question Pete that will of coourse depend on who will apoint,

I think ww still be a top 4 side but will wont be winning another 13 titles in 21 seasons! Fergie is in a league of his own IMO

They'll keep it in the family and appoint Darren Ferguson in the belief he has his dad's ability

Moyes has been the name most linked to succeed Fergie and he's been waiting a bloody long time. I also believe Moyes fits the mould they are looking for whereas Mourhino is perhaps too risky given his temperament.

Benetiz will be available at the end of the season

I just wonder if the decision is based on health reasons? The guy is the ultimate competitor and for him to quit like this is a shock.

Not a huge man utd fan but without doubt the greatest club manager ever!

Nope. Because of Nike.

Man Utd = approx 350 million in debt.
Rooney and SAF have fallen out big time (again!)
I mentioned a while ago a deal was in place to ship Rooney off in the Summer (to RM I believe). However Nike went nuts about it.

Nike invests huge money in Man Utd. Man Utd without Rooney = no money spinners (could argue Van Persie but he hasn't got the Asian appeal yet. Shrek is very fondly thought of in Asia and makes mega bucks for them through shirt sales etc.)

SAF thinks too old, etc, can't be arsed with this, not the club I signed up for etc. etc. etc. Money rules football fact.

Only 3 weeks ago Fergie was talking about his 2 or 3 year plan for the next Man U team.
