Why would you wrap a Vintage boxed X-Wing in just some bubble wrap and brown paper and think it would get through the royal Mail without getting beat up ?

Better still, why would you put a practically mint boxed speeder bike in a jiffy bag and expect it to arrive unscathed ?

Fecking idiots :x :x

Happens all the time!
It's because the seller just CBA to pack it properly, he has your money and that's all he cares about.
Claim through Ebay.

Rule of thumb..............ALWAYS specify to the seller, how you want it packaged, assume they are idiots!

This is the reply back from the guy who put the boxed speeder bike in a jiffy bag

I'm sorry that you have received the item in this condition. As far as I was aware the package had internal bubble wrap but unfortunately how the Royal Mail chose to treat the package once it had left my hands is beyond my control. If you are unhappy with the item and would like to return it to me I will refund you.

Again, my apologies.

"the package had internal bubble wrap" - bloody idiot ! A layer of bubble wrap in an envelope isn't likely to offer a lot of protection to a cardboard box !

Like Weasel says it happens a lot. It's amazing that people can be that stupid but it seems they are the majority. I imagine these people put the eggs at the bottom of the shopping trolly and assume the cardboard will protect them. All we can hope is that at some point their idiocy gets them killed.

I suggest putting the sellers hand in bubble wrap...then hitting his hand with a hammer (Several times). This would assure him of the amount of protection bubble wrap affords. :D

Lol

It gets better - this is his reply (I wish I had left him a Neg now)

No dear, I very much understand your "point". The item was sent in protective packing, you're annoyed because it's been mishandled and, since our beloved Royal Mail doesn't have a feedback option, you've decided to take your annoyance out on my eBay account instead. I have laughed at, and replied to, your feedback comments. Congratulations on:

a) not actually affecting my feedback score (kinda missed a trick there, no?)
b) publicly admitting that your problem is with the packaging, not with the item (they do say that children prefer the box to the actual toy...), therefore making your feedback and comments appear unjustified, and as irrelevant as Episodes 1 - 3
c) giving me the opportunity to point this out...thanks very much! Way to shoot yourself in the foot Darth!

I've sold numerous items on eBay and have had no complaints up until now. I offered you a refund but you refused so I guess I can't win. If the actual Speeder Bike is still in mint condition as it was when it left my docking bay, and was not damaged by laser fire or captured by the Rebel Alliance en route, then I don't see what the problem is.

By the way, I had no idea that a seller's choice of packaging reflected their state of mental health! 'Jiffy bag - CRAZY!' And why the capitalisation? Are you shouting at your PC? Poor PC.

Should you wish to purchase any more of my old children's plastic play-things/toys/items suitable for age range 4 and upwards, which I imagine you won't, then rest assured they will be shipped to you in heavily armoured military transport and escorted to your door by armed guard. Better still, I'll see if I can get Carrie Fisher to hand deliver it to you in her gold bikini? This will, of course, add to the shipping costs.

Good day to you.

Jabba.

Flame him. Set up a new Ebay account and buy all his new auctions then don't pay/string him along. Post him a turd in a box.

Obviously as you know he is in the wrong. But here's why-
His ebay sale was not just for a speeder bike with a free box. It was for a boxed speeder bike. This means the sale is for the bike, the box and anything else inside the box. This means that everything shown for sale must turn up in good condition and undamaged. This goes whether you're buying a box of chocolates or a vintage collectable toy. Even tho as a vintage collectable the condition of the packaging is paramount (this is obvious to any idiot), even a new toy that you might buy for a gift needs to arrive with it's box in tact or exactly as shown in the sale pictures. To package an item in such a way that it can be damaged by INEVITABLE Royal Mail (miss)handing is both negligent and plain moronic. It is his responsibility to assure the arrival of the packaging and contents therein in the exact condition it left him and this means packing the item in sufficient enough packaging that it will withstand the inevitable knocks it will receive in transit.

OPen a case with ebay stating you want a partial refund as the item you bought arrived damaged. If he refuses, put the thing in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes and then send it back to him in a jiffy bag.

It's the principal. Another Speeder Bike will come up for sale but he'll be left with one difficult to sell.

Dude I know exactly how you feel! Last year I got a MISB MOTO ARRIENNE Sppeder bike from US I think or maybe UK, anyway, it was mint in the pics, no fold etc etc, but when it came in the same, a ****in' brown mail bag with bubble wrap I knew exactly what to expect inside. Creased to **** and with such an item abloody huge shame!!! It was cheap but thats not the point, the item is hard to come by and this dick was blataintly dropped on his head at birth!!!!

I ****in' HATE stupid people!!!!!

Yeah, **** that bitch with a strap-on bull dozer and don't stop until you see blood comin' out his eyes!!

Was that a bit too much? :p

I wish I had now !

In all honesty I do not want to effect someone's ability to sell and hope that if they have made a mistake then they will learn from it. The actual item was nice and I did get it for a good price. I had to hope that it was just an error of judgement to send it in a jiffy bag. Obviously the seller has missed the entire point regarding packaging and as Pete says in an earlier post, even if this was a new toy, protecting the packaging should still be important.
