Factory Default Figures

Hi guys new to the forums, Barry from merseyside, very serious collector in my day, I used to watch starwars over and over every day for about 2 years still never got bored. Can't stand the digital remastered films but that's a different thread altogether, anyway...

I have plenty of c9+/10 loose figures, but I want to know are factory default figures collectible, what do I mean by that? I mean I have a couple of figures like brand new but with a leg not painted, or an arm no painted, when they made the figures they somehow forgot to fully paint them (like a machine default).

Just wondering are these collectible, very rare because I've never seen any myself.

What do you think?

Thanks
CB

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You mean factory error figures. Christian over on RS has a collection of them, here is a link:-

I have a couple of Yodas and traded a few error figures with Christian. They aint worth a fortune but they are collectible

Yes just what I have, thanks a lot cocofstar I'll have a look at that now, cheers!

Plenty of variations their, like another world of collectors.

Slightly of topic, is it worth getting my figures AFA Graded? Will this increase value? What are the benefits and what does it actually mean?

It also seems you've got to send your figures to America, or is there a place in England that does the grading?

Thanks :)

I would say that getting your figures AFA graded would increase their resale value - providing they attain decent grades of course! The cost of shipping them over and grading fee would at least partially negate this though. If they don't grade well (e.g. 75 or below) you may even want to consider breaking them out of the case if you want to re-sell - again depending on the figure and grade.

The Uk has a rival grading company:

Perhaps yet to gain the international standing that AFA currently has, but it's been up and running for a year or two now and there are plenty of their pieces in circulation now.

Of course if you don't want to sell you have to ask yourself how important someone else's grade (opinion) is to you...
